I want to thank my coaches Mike Woodward (HS), Aaron Best, Paul Wulff, Beau Baldwin (EWU), Jeff Fisher, Mike Munchak, Ken Whisenhunt, Bruce Matthews (Titans), and all the coaches who made me a better player and man.

To all the men I've shared the field with: I'm honored to have called you teammates. We have made memories for many lifetimes.

I'm excited to begin the rest of my life, and I am grateful to do so now, while I am fully healthy. Although I don't know what adventure the future holds, I know there will be family, friends, travel, whiskey, cigars and beer. All a man can ask for, and more. Thank you Titans fans for your support all these years. Cheers!!

His retirement doesn't come as a huge surprise. Roos played in just five games for the Tennessee Titans in 2014 after requiring knee surgery in October. In the first nine years of his career he missed just one game for the team, a remarkable record of health and reliability for an offensive lineman.

The Titans certainly knew the end was coming, per Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean:

In his career with the Titans, Roos made on Pro Bowl and was voted a first-team All-Pro by The Associated Press, both in 2008. But the Titans are also losing a veteran presence in the locker room and a player who would have served as a mentor for younger lineman, like last year's top pick, Taylor Lewan.

Roos gave the Titans a great decade. After his knee surgery this past season, however, starting a new decade simply wasn't in the cards.
