Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is working with the Gunners' under-16 squad, taking the initial steps toward coaching at his former club.

Eurosport confirmed Henry's involvement, while Arsene Wenger suggested Henry may have a bit-part influence for the time being, per the club's official Twitter feed:

Henry recently opted to join the Sky Sports punditry team upon finishing his playing career. The Frenchman, who represented teams including Juventus, Barcelona and the New York Red Bulls throughout his years on the pitch, previously suggested he would be involved in the practical side of the game.

He hinted his future lies at Arsenal in a permanent role, saying he would like to see the team win the Champions League, reported by L'Equipe (h/t Jeremy Wilson of The Telegraph): "Whether that is from near or far does not depend on me but it is sure I'd like to help," said Henry. "This is my club and, as a player, I was not able to give them the Champions League."

Henry now has an excellent chance to learn the coaching ropes before taking a more prominent position. Arsenal's youngsters could learn an awful lot from his goalscoring wizardry, and indeed, how to harness their talent.

Let's not forget Henry was struggling as a winger when Wenger lured him from Turin, turning him into one of the deadliest marksmen in the Premier League's history in the process. He understands the value of a thoughtful coach who can make a real difference, and now he has the opportunity to impart his wisdom on Arsenal's next generation.
