Manchester United Transfer News: Dani Alves Comments Spark Red Devils Rumours
Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has suggested he is ready to leave Barcelona, perhaps leaving the door open for Manchester United to swoop in.
The Brazilian defender appeared to post something of a farewell message on Instagram:
Tom Conn of Inside Spanish Football translated his message to read the following:

Alves continues to be linked with a move to United, with reports in October suggesting he had already inked a preliminary agreement with Louis van Gaal's club, per FIFA agent Francois Gallardo, who spoke to Spanish programme Neox (h/t Ben Jefferson of the Express).
The 31-year-old attacking full-back could provide a vital piece to the Dutch manager's puzzle, particularly if Van Gaal is looking to force his side into the 3-5-2 formation which has proven troublesome this season.
Although Alves' defensive qualities are often questioned—he's the type of player who is willing to leave the team exposed in order to contribute offensively—he represents a step up over current United right wing-backs Rafael and Antonio Valencia.
Alves has assisted four goals in all competitions this season, per WhoScored.com, and if United were to improve their centre-back selection, he would receive license to enjoy himself down the Old Trafford flank. The player's qualities are highlighted below:
Santi Gimenez of AS believes Alves' Instagram post is his "strategy" to get Barcelona to "finally sit down and negotiate with him." As reported by Ed Aarons of The Guardian, the Blaugrana stand to lose their loyal star at the end of the season after failing to make a new contract offer.
Alves' comments initiate a scenario in which Barca's willingness to keep him will be seriously tested. If a contract offer isn't forthcoming, clubs such as United will be free to offer him a bumper deal without the need to pay a transfer fee.
Shortly after his post, Alves' agent and ex-wife Dinorah Santana told Partido de las 12 on radio station Cadena COPE (h/t Gimenez) the player is "listening to offers." Santana continued: "We are more sad than disappointed with Barca, the club have not approached us at any moment while he have waited for a call."

Alves is the kind of player who wears his heart on his sleeve, so it's apparent these latest developments are trying to force a reaction.
Richard Tanner of the Express believes Van Gaal is planning to spend over £150 million in the summer, so the Brazilian's arrival could see vital funds kept free. He still offers real quality, a winning attitude and an electric turn of pace, attributes United certainly need.
Barcelona's movements will play a major role in the player's future, as if they offer a contract extension, Alves' comments on "family" indicate he would likely commit to the Camp Nou cause.
