Texas Football: Tracking 2015 NFL Combine Results for Former Longhorns
Five former Texas Longhorns will have the chance to display their skills to all 32 NFL teams during the 2015 NFL combine.
The 2014 NFL draft went by without any Longhorns selected, so the players in attendance at this year's combine will do everything possible to not continue the draftless streak.
The positive news for the Longhorns is there's a good possibility history will not repeat itself in 2015, mainly because of headliner Malcom Brown, who is projected as a first-round pick in various mock drafts.
But Brown is only one of the former Longhorns who will be able to increase his draft stock at the NFL combine.
Here's a closer look at the Longhorns' performances and results in the 2015 NFL combine. Make sure to check back as the week continues to track the players' progress.
Running Back Malcolm Brown

Weigh-In: Thursday
Medical and Interviews: Thursday
On-Field Workouts: Saturday
What Brown Must Accomplish
Malcolm Brown did not have the type of senior campaign one might have expected, but he will have the chance to increase his draft stock at the combine.
Brown is a smart and well-spoken young man who could win over teams during the interview process. He is more of a between-the-tackles type of runner and did not show a consistent ability to change direction. He lacks the ability to be a feature back and shows little explosiveness through the hole, according to CBSSports.com.
Brown had a decent performance in Saturday's on-field drills. His 4.62 40 time placed him roughly in the middle among running back times but he was a top performer in the 60 yard shuttle and the three-cone drill.
| 40 yard dash | Bench Press | Vertical Jump | Broad Jump | Three-cone Drill | 20 yard shuttle | 60 yard shuttle |
| 4.62 seconds | 19 reps | 34.5 inches | 117 inches | 6.86 seconds | 4.15 seconds | 11.32 seconds |
Defensive Tackle Malcom Brown

Weigh-In: Friday
Medical and Interviews: Friday
On-Field Workouts: Sunday
What Brown Must Accomplish
Defensive tackle Malcom Brown is a projected first-round draft pick by NFL Media draft expert Mike Mayock, according to Orangebloods.com.
"Malcom Brown to me is a first-round guy all day long. Love his size. He's 6-2, 320. He's stout versus the run. He can push the edge. I think he gets drafted somewhere in the 20s, between 20 and 32. Started his final 27 games, I believe. Married with two kids. Everything kind of fits. He's a low-risk investment and a really good football player.
"
At 6'2", 320 pounds, he is an athletic, big-bodied tackle who has a superb ability to shut down the opponent's run game. Brown has the talent and physique to become a successful tackle in the NFL. He will need to work on his power and his technique with his hands, according to CBSSports.com's Dane Brugler and Rob Rang.
Brown said his decision to leave early for the NFL did not have to do with him striking while the iron was hot, rather, because he needed to do what was best for his family—his wife and his two children.
"A lot went into it because I had to finish school and my wife had to finish school, so that took a lot of thought," Brown said during Friday interviews. "It wasn't just striking when the iron was hot because I could have had another hot year. It was more just about talking to everybody, taking everything into consideration, and at the end of the day I just made a good decision."
| 40 yard dash | Bench Press | Vertical Jump | Broad Jump |
| 5.05 seconds | 26 reps | 29.5 inches | 98 inches |
Brown performed well in Sunday's on-field workouts and impressed NFL analyst Willie McGinest during his on-field workout Sunday.
"I like Malcom Brown. I know he’s 319 but the guy looks like he’s in pretty good shape," McGinest said during the NFL combine on NFL Network. "He has good feet, is athletic, moving well and he kept his eyes up going over the bags. He looked very fluid in these drills."
Defensive End Cedric Reed

Weigh-In: Friday
Medical and Interviews: Friday
On-Field Workouts: Sunday
What Reed Must Accomplish
After having a breakout junior season, defensive end Cedric Reed entered his senior year with a lot of hype—but he struggled to play up to the standard he set in 2013.
It turns out Reed played his entire senior year with a torn meniscus, which he has since had surgically repaired.
Although he is recovering nicely from his surgery, Reed will only participate in the bench press portion of on-field drills, according to Alex Dunlap of Orangebloods.com. The defensive end will need to do everything he can to convince NFL teams he can return to his junior-season level of play during the interview process.
Linebacker Jordan Hicks

Weigh-In: Friday
Medical and Interviews: Friday
On-Field Workouts: Sunday
What Hicks Must Accomplish
Linebacker Jordan Hicks was sidelined with injury during the 2012 and 2013 seasons but returned to have an outstanding senior campaign.
Hicks has the ideal size (6'1", 234 lbs) and speed for his position and has shown an excellent ability to make open-field tackles. Mayock appears to be intrigued by Hicks, especially his tackling.
"I like him. I like what I've seen so far," Mayock told Orangebloods.com. "I like his size. He tackles, which is a little bit of a lost art these days."
Hicks spent five years at Texas and went through four defensive coordinators and four linebackers coaches, which he feels makes him a very versatile prospect.
"I’ve played in so many different defenses. I’ve had four D-coordinator, four linebackers coaches in five years," Hicks said during Friday interviews. "It makes me versatile. I’ve seen a lot of different and been taught a lot of different techniques and styles. I’ve seen a lot."
Even though Hicks did not suffer any injuries during his final season at Texas, NFL teams will almost certainly question his ability to remain healthy.
Hicks had a solid day of on-field drills at the combine Sunday and was named a top performer in the vertical jump, three cone drill and 60 yard shuttle.
| 40 Yard Dash | Bench Press | Vertical Jump | Broad Jump | Three Cone Drill | 20 Yard Shuttle | 60 Yard Shuttle |
| 4.68 seconds | 20 reps | 38 inch | 124 inch | 6.78 seconds | 4.15 seconds | 11.34 seconds |
Defensive Back Quandre Diggs
5 of 5
Weigh-In: Saturday
Medical and Interviews: Saturday
On-Field Workouts: Monday
What Diggs Must Accomplish
Defensive back Quandre Diggs has a lot of talent and has professional bloodlines. The younger brother of NFL defensive back Quentin Jammer, Diggs is a player who will almost always give 110 percent.
One of his biggest downfalls is his size. At 5'9", 196 pounds, Diggs is a bit on the small side, but he makes up for it with his big-play ability.
In addition to his size, NFL.com lists a lack of speed as a weakness, but Diggs had a solid performance in Monday's combine drills.
| 40 Yard Dash | Bench Press | Vertical Jump | Broad Jump | Three Cone Drill | 20 Yard Shuttle | 60 Yard Shuttle |
| 4.56 seconds | 17 reps | 35.5 inch | 113 inch | 7.22 seconds | 4.15 seconds | 11.84 seconds |
