Aside from Ireland stunning West Indies early on, the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup hasn't sprung many surprises. The fancied teams have since held sway over the so-called minnows.

The trend continued with the most recent results. Bangladesh made relatively easy work of beating a spirited Afghanistan team, one day after New Zealand successfully handled Scotland.

Here's a full breakdown of the results so far at this World Cup, followed by the updated standings:

Bangladesh vs. Afghanistan

Record-setting numbers were the order of the day for Bangladesh when they saw off Afghanistan by 105 runs. The deficit represented the former's largest margin of victory at this tournament, according to ESPN Cricinfo reporter Bishen Jeswant.

He detailed some of the performances that contributed to that record. In particular, Jeswant highlighted the prolific batting partnership between Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim:

"

Runs for the the fifth-wicket by Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib, the highest for Bangladesh in World Cups. They are the first Bangladeshi pair to post a 100-plus stand for any wicket in the competition's history.

"

Jeswant also noted how the duo hold the record for most runs gained in their nation's history with 1725. The Star Sports YouTube channel carries the best highlights of their latest run rate:

However, as good as the star pair was, the Bangladeshi batting order did take time to get warmed up, managing just 67 runs from the first 20 overs.

But that was nothing compared to the slow start Afghanistan made at the wicket. The nation began its chase to overturn 268 by going a scarcely believable 3-3, according to BBC Sport reporter Stephan Shemilt.

He credited the Bangladesh fast bowler Mashrafe Mortaza with applying immediate pressure. He did his damage in the first and third overs.

But the records didn't all belong to Bangladesh. There was still plenty of room for some firsts for Afghanistan.

The Sky Sports Cricket official Twitter feed detailed one such moment:

That wicket was part of a solid overall bowling effort. Shemilt credited the Afghan fast-paced bowlers with impressing.

Specifically, Hamid Hassan and Shapoor Zadran were among four bowlers to each take a pair of wickets. The latter notched a 2.85 economy rate, per ESPN Cricinfo.

The win is naturally a good start for Bangladesh. They showed enough quality at the wicket to worry their next opponents and even concern any Pool A teams waiting at the next stage.

Of course, that's assuming Shakib and company make it that far. The early signs are at least positive.

Things should also become a lot clearer in Pool A following New Zealand's meeting with England on Day 7 of the tournament.
