New York Rangers Tie Record with 4th Straight 5-Goal Game, All on Road
With Monday's 6-5 victory over the crosstown-rival New York Islanders, the New York Rangers tied a little-known NHL record by scoring five or more goals in four consecutive games, with each of those games being a win on the road, per Elias Sports Bureau (h/t ESPN.com).
The same feat has been accomplished six other times, including in January of 1981 by the Rangers.
New York's scoring binge occurred at a rather convenient time, as superstar goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has been sidelined with a neck injury.

Cam Talbot thus started all four games on the Rangers' recent road trip, earning wins over the Toronto Maple Leafs (5-4), Colorado Avalanche (6-3), Arizona Coyotes (5-1) and Islanders.
New York outscored its opponents 22-13 on the trip, improving the team's record to 34-16-5.
The Rangers are just two points behind the Islanders for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division, but with a pair of games in hand, the Blueshirts can be considered slight favorites to beat out their rivals.
Of course, it's not just a two-horse race, as the Pittsburgh Penguins (73 points) and Washington Capitals (70) still hope to win a division that has a very clear top four.
Known largely for their excellent defense and goaltending in recent years, the Rangers quietly rank second in the NHL with 3.13 goals per game this season. Assuming Lundqvist can make it back for the playoffs, New York may have the most well-rounded squad in the Eastern Conference.
