When Andrew Bynum was on the basketball court, he had the talent to be an All-Star center. Unfortunately, his actions off the court often made it difficult to fulfill his potential.

Nobody will forget the time that Bynum—then with the Philadelphia 76ers—hurt his knee while bowling. As we now know, that injury turned out to be costly. He never played a minute for the Sixers.

The bowling incident received a lot of attention, but there is one (injury-free) incident from Bynum's time in Philadelphia that just recently made the news.

During his feature on the 76ers for an ESPN The Magazine article, Pablo S. Torre came across a crazy story about Bynum:

Their would-be star was a hazardous fit -- sometimes even literally. One day, memorably, the rehabbing big man parked next to Aaron Barzilai, [then-Sixers general manager Tony] DiLeo's newly hired director of basketball analytics, in the parking lot of the team facility at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. As Bynum shuffled inside, Barzilai noticed something on their would-be star's custom black Ferrari and called after him. Bynum, it turned out, had driven away from a gas station without removing the pump's nozzle and eight-
foot rubber hose, which he'd dragged, pythonlike, through the street.

For those who have seen someone drive away with a gas pump hose still in the car, you can picture in your mind what happened. For those who have never seen it happen, it probably seems hard to believe someone can not realize that the hose is still attached to the car. However, it does happen.

You'd think someone with a Ferrari would pay attention to every little thing to make sure the car doesn't get messed up. However, at least for one drive, Bynum had no idea there was something hanging out of his gas tank.

For a player who was involved in plenty of crazy stories throughout his career, this is just another classic Bynum moment.
