Chelsea Transfer News: David Luiz Comments on PSG, Jose Mourinho and More
David Luiz has spoken out about his transfer away from current Premier League leaders Chelsea, claiming Jose Mourinho offered him a new deal to stay in west London.
Sky Sports cite the player speaking to The Sun about his blockbuster £50 million move to Paris Saint-Germain last summer, with the Brazilian maverick saying he has "no problem" with the Special One:
"I decided to leave after the end of the season. Chelsea offered me a new contract and I said to them 'I’m not feeling the same thing like I was feeling years ago.' I had an amazing connection with the fans, my team-mates, everyone at the club, but I decided my cycle was finished and I wanted to live a different moment now in my life.

The 27-year-old was a regular in the Blues side in his final season at Stamford Bridge, but it was clear Mourinho did not see him as a centre-back, often playing him in different parts of the park.
The defender played 27 games in the EPL and Champions League in 2013-14, per WhoScored.com, as the Chelsea coach utilised Luiz's talents elsewhere.
But the player says that he did not have any issue with the Portuguese manager and that stories of the decline in their relationship were fictional, per The Sun:
"I was not playing as much as the previous season, but I played all the big games—in different positions. People tried to make stories about me and Mourinho, but we never had any history.
Many times when he doesn’t put David Luiz in, people said there was a problem, but it was natural. I was very happy in Chelsea.
"

However, Luiz also commented that Mourinho did not make a great effort to keep him once PSG had made their move, hinting that all was not well in the grand scheme of matters.
The player admitted that he was not in a good frame of mind at the conclusion of last year and Mourinho was happy for him to leave, per Sky Sports:
"I was not feeling good there and I said I wanted to leave. [Mourinho] didn’t try too much because I was in Brazil for the World Cup and we just spoke on the telephone. He said, 'It’s OK, you can go.'
"

Luiz's revelation is not a surprise, given his erratic form at centre-back and the astronomical price paid by PSG for his services. Mourinho was in the process of building the fantastic team we are seeing dominate the EPL today, and the money from the Luiz deal was evidently too good to turn down.
The Brazilian also spoke of how PSG kingpin Zlatan Ibrahimovic convinced him to swap London for Paris.
The Daily Mail (h/t BeIN Sports) reports the defender speaking about Zlatan's influence in the move, saying the character of the forward helped influence his decision:
"There are two Zlatans: one the media portrays and then the real one. He was one of the big reasons that I chose to join Paris. When Chelsea played Paris he said to me during the game, 'you need to come and play with us next season.' He is one of the best players in the world and a great guy.
"
Luiz is certainly a talented individual, but it is questionable whether he is a truly world-class defender. He has all the skill you would expect of a talented South American footballer, boasting flair and culture, but there is always a big mistake ready and waiting in his game.
Chelsea and Mourinho built their previous successes on structure and solidity, and Luiz does not fall into this bracket.
There was potential to see him move into midfield, but he does not have the creative capabilities of a Cesc Fabregas.
Mourinho knew this and essentially swapped Luiz for the former Barcelona man—and Chelsea have gone from strength to strength.
Luiz was never really suited to the English game, with Ligue 1 a more comfortable place for his defensive attributes.
