Vick and The Eagles: Everything That's Wrong With Everything.
First off, Michael Vick didn’t make a mistake, which is all we hear now from his sickening sympathy tour headlined by Tony Dungy.
It’s not like he got caught up in a moment and had too much to drink, got behind the wheel and killed somebody – no, that was another NFL stand-out citizen, Donte Stallworth, whom I’m sure Dungy will be out promoting soon as well.
No, Vick didn’t make a mistake. He chronically, criminally and systematically committed disgusting crimes over and over and over again. He knew it was wrong, no matter what he says now, from the minute he started – why do you think everything was covered up and covert in that repulsive back yard in Virginia?

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
That is not a mistake, that is a plan. A plan he financed, set-up and executed coldly over and over and over again.
And oh I know, Vick is remorseful and sorry. I mean Tony Dungy himself said so, so it must be true right? Wrong. The only reason Vick is sorry is because he got caught. No other reason.
If he was still The Man in Atlanta, do you think for a second he would’ve had this same epiphany? Yeah, me either.
Forget about all that nonsense we’re hearing about how he now knows what he was doing was wrong and he’s sorry. Yeah, he just found out today at 29 that murdering dogs in his spare time for sport is wrong. Just found it out, never knew that before. Amazing.
The big question is why?
Why on earth does a team with an established quarterback hierarchy with many other pressing needs – LB, TE come to mind immediately – why do they make this move?
Just to run the gimmicky wildcat formation? A formation that will not surprise any d-coordinator -- especially as soon as they see Vick on run on the field.
In listening to Reid and Dungy lay it on at the press conference this morning, it would seem like it’s more about their personal redemptions than Vick’s.
No way the Reid, who has pontificated for years about the importance of character, would’ve made this move before he went through what he went through with two his sons. Dungy has his own demons to work out too and maybe he thinks this is his penance for some perceived sins of his own, who knows.
I do know that Tony Dungy doesn’t work for the Philadelphia Eagles. Joe ‘Nickels’ Banner and Andy Reid do.
I also know that I am not interested in their personal reclamation issues. They should work it out with their families or shrinks. I’m interested in my team winning and not seeing any of my fan dollars – no matter how small – go to a convicted dog killing thug who somehow now ‘deserves’ a second chance because he once made a lot of people a lot of money and now those same for-hire jackals see those dollar signs again.
He deserves freedom because he served his time, that’s it. Nothing else.
Yes, he can earn a living too, sure. Many, many people make livings while not playing in the NFL. Go get a job in an office, a garage or restaurant. Go ahead, go earn, no one is stopping you.
But as far as playing again in the NFL, no one has that right. Vick had it and he beat, drown, electrocuted and strangled his way out of it.
And now as Eagle fans get punished for being loyal, passionate fans they are, Vick get rewarded for being a completely reprehensible human being. He gets a nice $1.6 million deal to boot – nice considering he hasn’t played since 2006.
Wonder if any Eagle fans wish Brian Dawkins could have gotten an offer from the team with that extra $1.6 million in it?
The lasting message here is a familiar one, if you have the money, the influence, the talent – you can do whatever you want to whomever you want with complete disregard for any sort laws or rules or human civility. He and his enablers are symptomatic and symbolic of everything that’s wrong with everything.
In the end Michael Vick wasn't the one who made a 'mistake,' the Philadelphia Eagles, on the other hand, did.
