Chris Simms of Bleacher Report broke down the best destinations for Bush if his tenure in Detroit were to end:
Bush's Future With Lions Could Be In Doubt
Thursday, Feb. 12
Bush played in just 11 games last season and took a backseat to Joique Bell in the process, so the Lions seem to be considering their options at the running back position.
According to Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press, neither head coach Jim Caldwell nor general manager Martin Mayhew have announced any intention to keep Bush in the fold. Birkett also expects the Lions to bring in another running back despite already having Bush, Bell and Theo Riddick.
Josh Katzenstein of The Detroit News touched on Mayhew's deafening silence regarding Bush as well:
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his situation, Bush expects to be playing for the Lions when the 2015 season commences, per Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com.
"I'm planning on playing for a while," Bush said. "As long as my contract says two more years on it, I'll probably be back unless somebody tells me otherwise. I do know the business side, but I have a contract that says I'm here for another two years."
Bleacher Report NFL analyst Chris Simms shared his thoughts on the situation in Detroit:
Bush's first year with the Lions in 2013 was strong, as he topped 1,000 rushing yards, caught 54 passes and scored seven touchdowns. However, there is no question that his role diminished in 2014.
His health had something to do with it, but he finished the year with just 297 rushing yards, 40 grabs and two total scores. With Riddick emerging as a pass-catching back, it could diminish the need for an aging player like Bush.
Detroit is already stacked with offensive talent, including wide receivers Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, so it would be shocking in the least to see the Lions cut ties with the former USC standout.
