Hazard Signs New Deal With Chelsea
Thursday, Feb. 12
Chelsea announced that Hazard signed a new contract on Thursday:
"Eden Hazard has today signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea.
The club’s Player of the Year has continued his excellent form this season, scoring 13 times in 36 appearances and helping us to the top of the Barclays Premier League.
'I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea,' Hazard said. 'Since I came here in 2012 I have always felt good and the club has been very supportive to me.
'The manager has helped me improve a lot, the fans have been fantastic and I have an amazing understanding with my team-mates.
'I always try to give pleasure to the supporters with my style of play and it is nice to know they appreciate my work.
'I hope we can repay that support by winning lots of trophies, beginning with the Capital One Cup at Wembley, and after that, we can push hard towards the end of the season.'

Mourinho 'Not Worried' About Hazard’s New Deal
Wednesday, Feb. 11
The Blues boss has quelled concerns about the Belgian’s apparent reluctance to agree a new deal in jovial fashion, insisting that the player will sign a new deal once Mourinho gets a nice enough pen, per Matt Lewis of GetWestLondon (h/t Ashley Clements of the Mail Online):
“I need a bit of time to go to Sloane Street and buy a proper pen,” said the Portuguese. “I just need time to buy the pen and after that I think there is not a long time to go!”
Hazard has been one of the brightest stars in this magnificent Chelsea campaign and the club will be desperate to get him tied down in the long term. With that in mind, reports linking the player with a move to Real Madrid, per Rhys Turrell of the Daily Star, will come as a concern to those who frequent the Bridge, but Mourinho was calm about the situation.
“Why? What's the problem?” he said, per Clements’ piece. “He has a contract with Chelsea for two or three more years, why should we be in a hurry? Are you worried? I'm not worried.”
Based on Mourinho's comments, it's apparent he has no real concern about the situation.
