Real Madrid's Plans to Remodel Bernabeu Stadium Overturned by Court
Real Madrid have revealed the club's plans to remodel the Santiago Bernabeu have been dismissed by the Spanish court.
In an official statement, Madrid confirmed the club "will work with the City Council and the Community of Madrid to address those aspects that require attention in order to make the Santiago Bernabeu reform project viable."
The Associated Press (h/t Yahoo) noted officials "annulled permission" for Los Blancos to begin work on a redesign. The remodelling was originally announced in 2012, per Dermot Corrigan of ESPN FC. Plans for the rebuild included a new "skin" for the arena, as well as a hotel complex in the stadium's vicinity.

In January, Sid Lowe of the Guardian noted the European champions also have plans to add an Abu Dhabi prefix to the stadium's name after agreeing a sponsorship deal with the United Arab Emirates-based group.
Work was scheduled to begin in 2015 and was expected to be completed in 2017, per Corrigan.
