Gerrard On the Bench vs. Swansea
Thursday, March 12
Liverpool confirmed that Gerrard is on the bench as the club takes on Swansea.
On March 12, the Reds captain confirmed he will be ready to lend a hand to Liverpool's Champions League charge when they face a tricky clash at the Liberty Stadium.
James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo confirmed the news of the 34-year-old's return:
It will be intriguing to see what kind of role Gerrard has in the squad moving forward, especially when you consider Liverpool's exceptional form as of late without their skipper.
Brendan Rodgers has fashioned a team that plays with an unrelenting endeavour and intensity; while the Reds icon still has much to offer, at this juncture his attributes don't really tie in with the kind of football that Liverpool have been playing as of late.
Gerrard Expected to be Sidelined for At Least Two Weeks
Wednesday, February 11
Previously, The Guardian's Andy Hunter reported suggested Gerrard would be out for three weeks after suffering his problem in the Spurs win:
"Gerrard was replaced in the 68th minute of Tuesday’s 3-2 victory over Mauricio Pochettino’s side after complaining of a tight hamstring. The 34-year-old will have a scan on the injury but expects to be sidelined for two to three weeks, forcing the midfielder to miss the FA Cup fifth-round tie at Crystal Palace, the Europa League first leg with Besiktas and the Premier League trip to Southampton on Sunday week.
"
It has transpired that Gerrard has already missed three further matches, with the second leg of the Besiktas tie, the City triumph and win over Burnley passing him by.
Gerrard has spent his entire 17-year career with Liverpool and even at the age of 34 remains one of the club's most important stars. While he's had his share of knocks over the years like any other player, he's played 30 or more Premier League games for Liverpool in seven of the last nine years.
