WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from February 4

Erik BeastonFeb 5, 2015

NXT hit the WWE Network airwaves this week with one goal in mind: set the stage for next week's Takeover: Arrival special. It did so to perfection, wrapping up the No. 1 contender's tournament, highlighting the Divas division and delivering a video package that told the story of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.

Adrian Neville added to his considerable accomplishments in NXT by defeating the previously unbeaten Baron Corbin, albeit with the help of an interfering Bull Dempsey, while Finn Balor and Hideo Itami tore the house down before Balor picked up an impressive victory.

With the stage set for Neville vs. Balor next week and Zayn vs. Owens sure to be an emotional and outstanding wrestling match, there is reason to believe that Takeover: Arrival may be NXT's best offering to date.

Who will enter the two-hour live special riding a wave of momentum after Wednesday night's broadcast? Who will not?

Find out now with this week's biggest winners and losers from the February 4 episode of NXT.

Winners: Finn Balor and Hideo Itami

The tag team partners and friends delivered an outstanding match full of stiff shots and jaw-dropping physical brutality.

Balor's dropkick of Itami in the corner was violent, and the double stomp that won him the match was a thing of beauty. Best of all, though, was the show of sportsmanship after the match, which indicated that the loss will not cause Itami to make some sort of ill-fated heel turn, like it probably would have on the main roster shows.

Both men proved any and all doubters wrong Wednesday night. After months of hype surrounding their debut and subsequent action, they provided that one match that proved they could deliver when it counted most.

Where the defeat leaves Itami as far as Takeover is concerned is a mystery. For Balor, one more win would set him on a collision course with the NXT champion, whoever that may be.

And based on his performance this week and the tremendous following he has amassed since the last NXT special, it is difficult to argue against the Irishman winning the tournament.

Loser: Becky Lynch

While she turned in a strong performance against Bayley, Becky Lynch has been an afterthought in the Divas division as of late. She is Sasha Banks' lackey, at least that is how she has been portrayed, and another loss Wednesday night did little to develop her into a credible threat to win the NXT Women's Championship at Takeover.

Sure, it came as a result of Banks' interference and led to a shoving match between the two after the contest, but that does not make up for the fact that NXT has booked Lynch less than ideally heading into the huge Fatal 4-Way match.

It could be part of the plan, a way to take the spotlight off her before having her score the upset win. But for now, she is a long shot to leave Takeover with the gold around her waist.

Loser: Baron Corbin

The booking in the Adrian Neville vs. Baron Corbin match left a lot to be desired.

Neville ended Corbin's undefeated streak on a regular episode of NXT, pinning him after the big man had been sent into the steel post by Dempsey.

Rather than preserving that streak and using it to promote a high-profile match on a live special, NXT sacrificed it to add heat to a feud between Corbin and Dempsey that wrapped up a while ago with Corbin's decisive and dominant victory over his fellow heavyweight.

Now, the aura that once surrounded Corbin has been damaged.

It will be imperative in the weeks to come that Triple H and company do some repair work or risk permanent damage to someone who has all the potential in the world to become a legitimate breakout star for the brand.
