David Moyes Banned Chips at Manchester United Because Players Were Overweight
David Moyes has admitted he banned chips at Manchester United because some members of the team were overweight.
The Scot, now managing at Real Sociedad after an ill-fated tenure at Old Trafford, made the revelation in an interview with FourFourTwo (h/t The Guardian):
"Yes, I did ban chips," said Moyes. "It was because a couple of players were overweight and I didn’t think chips were good for their diet."

That said, Moyes added that there are a few items of food and drink he misses now that he has moved from England to Spain:
"It’s not easy to get a good cup of tea over here. My assistant, Billy McKinlay, has brought a kettle over so we can have a cup of tea after training. I’m not sure all my players know what it is, as most Spanish households don’t have kettles. Billy and I talk about Walkers shortbread and I was sent some Irn-Bru, which I appreciate.
"
United have undergone a major overhaul since Moyes' departure, with a number of high-profile signings coming in as well as some significant exits.
They currently sit third in the Premier League under Louis van Gaal, 10 points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
