The legend of Johnny Manziel was born at Texas A&M with his dazzling highlight-reel plays and spectacular performances, particularly against Alabama. It may have also been the start of his instant downfall in the NFL, which Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin admits maybe the program could have helped him to avoid.
During the interview with Bruce Feldman and Stewart Mandel on Fox Sports embedded below, Sumlin said that there were certain things he would have done differently with Manziel, looking back on it:

Manziel reportedly entered a rehab program on January 28, per Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain-Dealer:

Sumlin certainly isn't to blame for what's happened with Manziel. There's no doubt the coach has a personal connection to his former quarterback and feels bad about the situation.
Fortunately, it seems like Manziel is taking the necessary steps to recover. Whether that makes him a better football player in the NFL is secondary given what is going on his life right now.
