Liverpool Transfer News: Brendan Rodgers Discusses Deadline Day Rumours
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted things will be very quiet at Anfield on transfer deadline day, insisting the club is desperate to keep hold of all their squad members beyond the 11 p.m. deadline.
The news was confirmed by James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo:

That’s likely to mean Rickie Lambert—a player who has been linked with a potential move away from the club—is set to stay. According to Pearce, the Reds have already knocked back loan bids from Hull City and Crystal Palace for the England international striker, and Rodgers is apparently intent on keeping hold of the 32-year-old.

“I’ve no intention of leaving Liverpool while they want me,” said the player himself, per the aforementioned piece. “If they don’t want me I’ll go but I’m here to help in whatever way I can.”
One young player who will be going out on loan is the highly-rated Sheyi Ojo, as the club confirmed he will join Wigan Athletic on loan:
Safe in the knowledge that no player should be leaving permanently, Reds supporters waking up on deadline day will have been hoping for one last big-name purchase in the final embers of the window.
While Rodgers admitted he’s always looking for “star quality,” it looks unlikely any signings will be made, per Ian Herbert of the Independent:
However, as noted by Tony Barrett of The Times, the Reds boss didn’t completely rule out the possibility of making a late transfer swoop:
Barrett outlined one potential incoming player for the Merseysiders, revealing that Burnley striker Danny Ings—who would join in the summer—remains on the club’s wanted list:

At the start of the month, the prospect of the Liverpool manager not adding to his options midseason would have stirred plenty of apprehension among the fanbase. However, given the form this team have showcased in recent weeks, suddenly new faces don’t seem to be quite as imperative if success is to be achieved in the remainder of the campaign.
With so many new faces coming in, perhaps stability is exactly what this group needs. The young players in the squad are blossoming, the first team seems to be jelling and key players are coming back from injury.
To disrupt such a desirable dynamic would be a shame, and you suspect that’s something Rodgers has considered in earnest in the latter stages of the window.
