James Carroll provided more information on the club's official website:
"Liverpool Football Club have confirmed Academy winger Sheyi Ojo has joined Wigan Athletic on loan.
The 17-year-old has agreed a temporary switch to the Championship club in order to gain some senior experience.
Ojo joined the Reds' Academy from MK Dons in 2011. He is yet to make his first-team debut, but was named on the bench by Brendan Rodgers for fixtures with Burnley and Leicester City over the Festive period.

The talented winger is regarded as one of the top players in Liverpool's academy and regularly plays for the U21 squad, despite his young age. Often compared to Raheem Sterling, he plays the game with similar explosiveness, even if he is still very raw in his finishing.
Whitehouse Address is a big fan of the teenager and thinks supporters of the Reds should be thankful for MK Dons, who nurtured the youngster into the player he is today:
Wigan currently sit in the relegation zone of the Football League Championship and have scored just 26 goals all season, according to ESPN FC. The Latics are in dire need of some pace and creativity out wide, so Ojo will have plenty of opportunities to start right away.
The Liverpool Echo's James Pearce believes he'll certainly find his minutes:
This loan move is an excellent deal for all parties involved. Ojo is talented but raw and not ready to contribute at the Premier League level; making sure he gets his minutes in a competitive league like the Championship is a great piece of business for the Reds.
Ojo might only be 17, but there's little left for him to learn in the youth leagues. The speedster is ready to take the next step in his development, and with Wigan struggling in front of goal, he couldn't have asked for a better landing spot.
Wigan desperately needed a player like Ojo, who will inject new life into a squad desperate to avoid the drop to League One. The youngster isn't guaranteed to be a smash hit for the Latics, but given his vast potential, chances are he'll play an integral role in helping the club avoid relegation.
