When the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots headed to the locker rooms at halftime of Super Bowl XLIX, it was Katy Perry's time to shine.
Perry's performance wasn't lacking in grandeur.
She rode to the stage singing "Roar" atop a giant mechanical tiger. Bleacher Report captured a screenshot from NBC's broadcast:

The Nation's Dave Zirin thought he recognized the tiger from somewhere before. Somebody should get the Ghostbusters on the horn just in case:

Perry wrapped up the halftime show with "Firework," during which she was coincidentally gliding across the stadium riding a stylized firework. CNN's Rachel Nichols made note of the almost certainly unintentional bit of corporate synergy:

The Super Bowl halftime show isn't geared toward football fans; it's more about capturing the people who don't watch the league on a regular basis.
With that in mind, Perry delivered a strong, grand spectacle—one that didn't lack for special effects and wow factor.
It was a solid halftime interlude before the Patriots and Seahawks got back on the field.
