There are a plethora of top players on both the Patriots and Seahawks rosters who could change the course of the Super Bowl, but the player hardcore and casual football fans must watch is Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch.

While he has stolen headlines during the build to the Super Bowl due to his unwillingness to talk to the media, there are few players on either team who could impact the outcome of the game more than Lynch.

When asked about Lynch’s decision not to speak with the media and the backlash his teammate has faced, quarterback Russell Wilson came to his defense, via Adam Schefter and Darren Rovell of ESPN.com:

"

I just think that sometimes we focus on things that don't matter and don't make any difference. Marshawn is a great football player and a guy that puts his work in every day and is dedicated to the game of football and dedicated to his teammates. There are times I don't think he should be fined, especially to extent that people try to fine him. That's just my honest opinion.

The guy loves the game. Sometimes people try to take away from people the way they are. I don't think he should be fined, personally.

"

In the divisional round against the Carolina Panthers, Lynch was not needed as much as he usually is, since the passing attack and defense helped the Seahawks earn the 31-17 victory. He only racked up 65 all-purpose yards and no touchdowns in that game, but he exploded in the NFC Championship.

Against the Green Bay Packers, Lynch ran the ball 25 times for 157 yards and one touchdown, as well as one reception for 26 yards. The consistent rushing attack is what kept Seattle in the game and helped the franchise earn the overtime win.

The Seahawks finished the regular season ranked first in the NFL in rushing yards per game (172.6), but New England’s front seven, led by defensive tackle Vince Wilfork, was ranked ninth against the run, allowing just 104.3 yards per game.

As well as the Patriots defense has played this season, Lynch has been too strong to go out without a huge performance. After being skewered by the media, expect Lynch to be running mad and with a purpose.
