WWE Fast Lane 2015: Superstars Who Will Shine Under PPV Spotlight

Sharon GlencrossJan 28, 2015

On Monday's Raw, WWE started its hype for next month's Fast Lane pay-per-view—even the most extreme of weather conditions couldn't get in the way of that. While it might be shoved in between the more famous and hyped Royal Rumble and WrestleMania shows, the event should allow performers on the roster a golden opportunity to establish themselves.

Rusev

Rusev vs. John Cena in a singles bout at Fast Lane was announced Monday. The program marks Rusev's biggest test to date—and expect him to pass it with flying colors. Rusev has performed well over the past year, showing tremendous potential as both an in-ring competitor and a personality.

The beautiful, conniving Lana has developed into one of the most effective heel managers in the whole industry. She’s wonderful and fully convincing in her role. She deserves a promotion as much as her man does.

Provided WWE doesn't script the match to go too long—that wouldn't play to the former NXT star's strengths—Cena vs. Rusev can be a great and worthy main event bout. It may very well be the thing that establishes the heel as a big-time main event star.

Sting

Sting has been messing with The Authority for months now, and Triple H has finally gotten sick of it. During Monday's Raw, The Authority sent out a tweet in which the COO demanded a confrontation with The Icon at the next pay-per-view. This will, presumably, end up leading to a major singles bout between the two at WrestleMania 31, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

After a few tantalizingly brief appearances on television and pay-per-view, the WWE Universe will finally get to hear the WCW legend talk in-depth and fully explain his actions—and maybe get into a brawl with Triple H.

This face-to-face meeting will serve as a highlight of the pay-per-view. Sting remains as compelling and appealing a personality ever. And WWE, despite all the mistakes it has made in recent times—Roman Reigns winning the Rumble, ahem—cannot squander his skills as a main event attraction.

Seth Rollins

There's no word yet on what Seth Rollins will be doing at Fast Lane, but the star will find a way to get involved in the main event scene.

Following his phenomenal, gutsy performance at the Royal Rumble, it is clear Rollins is one of the best in-ring performers in the company. Week in and week out, he delivers one amazing bout after another. He has become a highlight of WWE television. Indeed, it’s impossible to imagine Raw or SmackDown without him.

With this in mind, expect him to churn out a great showing at the pay-per-view and continue the terrific run he's been on as of late.
