Madrid Confirm Silva Signing and Contract Details

Los Blancos welcomed their newest member via Twitter while providing more details regarding the transfer on their official website:
The young star will sign a contract until the end of the 2019-20 campaign. Los Blancos have yet to release the official price tag of the transfer. The player will be officially presented on Monday, providing his remaining medical tests go well.
The 21-year-old holding midfielder was a crucial member of Cruzeiro's back-to-back title-winning side and is widely tipped to be the next great Brazilian midfielder, drawing comparisons to former Real Madrid star Kaka.
Blessed with athleticism, vision and incredible passing, Selecao Brasileira believes he compares favourably to other stars in his position already plying their trade in Europe:

Madrid were linked with a move for Silva throughout December but appeared to rule out a transfer at the start of the January window, opting instead for a summer deal. But as reported by Marca, Los Blancos reignited their interest in the past few days, and Cruzeiro vice president Marcio Rodrigues told ESPN Brazil (h/t Marca) the player would leave:
"Lucas Silva's transfer deal is official and a statement will be made on Thursday. The player has decided it's time for him to leave. We won't have any problem finding a replacement. Various reserve team players are ready to step up."
Silva joins a club stacked with talent in midfield, and as a deep-lying playmaker, he'll join a long list of players who do their best work with the ball at their feet. Luka Modric will be the designated starter when he returns from injury, but given his young age, Silva will likely be asked to adapt to European football at his own pace and start contributing in a couple of years.
His arrival likely signals the end of Sami Khedira's tenure in the Spanish capital, while Asier Illarramendi should also start fearing for his job.
