Pro Bowl 2015: Fantasy Draft Results for Team Carter vs. Team Irvin
After less glamorous position players were chosen the previous evening, Wednesday's conclusion to the 2015 Pro Bowl draft featured many of the NFL's biggest names.
Instead of the AFC versus NFC structure of years past, the revamped, "unconferenced" format has taken hold. Hall of Fame receivers Cris Carter and Michael Irvin served as captains to pick from a loaded pool of players in a fantasy-style process.
Check out the complete list of draftees below, along with the automatically assigned players and the picks in parentheses that triggered their assignment:

Although Andrew Luck and his Indianapolis Colts were pulverized by the New England Patriots in the AFC title game, Luck could take solace in being the Pro Bowl's No. 1 overall pick for the second straight year Wednesday.
On Saturday, Stephen Holder of the Indy Star provided comments from Luck, who initially had trouble moving on from the loss and onto the Pro Bowl:
"It was hard," Luck admits. "But once you get out here and you get around the guys and some of your teammates, it feels better. But the morning after the (loss), you get a phone call and they need your decision and they want to make sure you're not hurt, can you play and all that. I'm sitting there like ... (sighs).
I mean, it is a privilege, but I am hurting in a sense. But I realize it's an honor to be voted in and the fans really enjoy it. So, I did it.
"
Houston Texans superstar J.J. Watt pulled the trigger on Luck, poking some fun at his AFC South adversary's facial hair in the process, per CBSSports.com's John Breech:
That was all Luck needed after a hilarious choice of words in speaking with reporters before the draft, as Kent Somers of AZCentral.com reported:
With how important the quarterback position is, it's hardly a surprise that Irvin responded to Team Carter's opening selection by adding Tony Romo, the veteran who guides his beloved Dallas Cowboys.
As pass-happy as the modern NFL tends to be, the next couple of players to come off the board fit the bill for sure. Cincinnati Bengals receiver A.J. Green teamed up with Luck, forming a dynamic combination on paper.
Bryan Mapes of Xfinity Sports weighed in on Green's presence in the Pro Bowl:
It may seem blasphemous to fans of the NFC East rivals, but Dallas' Romo will be firing spirals in the direction of New York Giants rookie extraordinaire Odell Beckham Jr. this coming Sunday in Glendale, Arizona.
KALB-TV 5's Kelsey Wingert felt the LSU product deserved to qualify for the Pro Bowl without backing in as an alternate:
That Irvin thought enough of Beckham to take him over other established veterans goes to show just how special OBJ has been in the Big Apple.
At least Romo will have his usual, dependable left tackle protecting his blind side in Tyron Smith, whom Irvin chose sixth overall. That came after Team Carter bolstered its backfield with Kansas City Chiefs playmaker Jamaal Charles.
The first defenders off the board were Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson at No. 7 (Team Carter) and Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly at No. 8 (Team Irvin).
Freakish athleticism defines both players in different ways, though Peterson likely wouldn't have been the first corner chosen if Seattle's Richard Sherman and New England's Darrelle Revis weren't in Super Bowl XLIX.
Fervent supporters were in the desert to cheer Peterson on:
Other notables included New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham, who fell from second overall in the 2014 Pro Bowl draft to 12th this time around.
Kansas City Chiefs star Justin Houston took to Twitter to comment on his draft position:
This new Pro Bowl layout has given a bit more press to the event that precedes Super Bowl Sunday. The draft creates an extra level of anticipation and allows for debate among fans as to which stars should be prioritized.
The refreshing revival of pro football's All-Star showcase will serve as a nice holdover before the grand finale on February 1. Last year's score of 22-21 reflected a competitive game that featured the lowest combined score since 2005, suggesting players bought into the game more than in years past, where defense seemed optional.
Both Team Carter and Team Irvin chose wisely. Now a mash-up of the world's best gridiron competitors will participate in the most star-studded exhibition this wildly popular sport has to offer.
