UK Back Pages: David De Gea, Gareth Bale, Falcao Transfer Rumours Printed

Mark PattersonJan 17, 2015

Sunday's newspapers focus heavily on Manchester United's transfer activity in the coming weeks and months.

They also celebrate Chelsea's excellence in the 5-0 demolition of Swansea, but with the January window lumbering along slowly, it's the transfer tidbits that will grab readers' attention.

In the Daily Star on Sunday, the talk is of Real Madrid making a £35 million bid for Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, which would be a record for a goalkeeper:

The Sunday Express picks up that theme but throws Gareth Bale into the mix as the two clubs consider doing business:

The Express also focuses on the pressure on Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert—and he's not the only boss in the spotlight. In the Mail on Sunday sports section, Harry Redknapp takes centre stage, but he appears confident of holding onto his job:

Its sport supplement returns to Manchester United, focusing on Falcao:

Speaking of whom, the Sunday Telegraph insists United still want him next season—but only on a cut-price deal:

Will any of these deals come off? We'll have to wait a while before we find out. But will they dominate the agenda for another few weeks on the back pages? Almost certainly.
