Super Bowl 2015: Date, Kickoff Time, Location and More for Seahawks vs. Patriots
All roads lead to Glendale, Arizona, for Super Bowl XLIX.
With the conference championships officially concluded, the focus can now firmly shift to the biggest sporting event of the year. The New England Patriots will clash with the Seattle Seahawks.
Considering the four teams still in play entering the weekend, it was impossible that the Super Bowl would have a bad matchup. Every team had a compelling storyline, and it was easy to draw the dividing lines, even for the neutral NFL fans.

The Patriots vs. the Seahawks is arguably the most attractive Super Bowl battle that could've happened this year.
Seattle is the defending champion and a burgeoning dynasty. New England, meanwhile, is the league's most recent true dynasty and the top seed in the AFC. The Seahawks beating the Patriots would be the passing of the proverbial torch—or in this case, the wresting away of the torch, because head coach Bill Belichick wouldn't do it willingly.

Should New England win, it would be perhaps the greatest triumph for the franchise in the Belichick/Brady era. Quarterback Tom Brady couldn't possibly be any more revered than he is now, but overcoming the Seahawks secondary with the weapons at his disposal would be something special.
The Seahawks will head to Glendale after what was an incredible comeback victory over the Green Bay Packers. They scored 15 points in a span of 44 seconds in the fourth quarter to take a three-point lead and eventually won on a 35-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jermaine Kearse in overtime.
Quarterback Russell Wilson was overcome with emotion after the win.
Seattle's defense once again stepped up in a big way, holding the Packers offense to 306 total yards and intercepting Aaron Rodgers on two occasions.
Cornerback Richard Sherman injured his arm in the victory but assured Seahawks fans that he'll be on the field for the Super Bowl, per NFL on ESPN:
The Patriots, meanwhile, cruised over the Indianapolis Colts. New England went on top 14-0 to close the first quarter and never looked back. Twenty-one points for the Pats in the third quarter all but sealed the win.
Even their offensive tackles were getting in on the fun:
Whatever happens on the field between New England and Seattle, this year's game will have a hard time matching the last Super Bowl held in Glendale.
The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals 27-23 in Super Bowl XLIII on the strength of a six-yard touchdown reception from wide receiver Santonio Holmes. Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald looked to have sealed the victory with his 64-yard TD catch, but quarterback Ben Roethlisberger led Pittsburgh down the field for the game-winner.

The most memorable play, though, might be linebacker James Harrison's 100-yard interception return for a touchdown as the first half ended. What would've at least been a 10-10 tie going into halftime instead turned into a 17-7 lead for the Steelers.
While fans would be overjoyed to see another nail-biter like that, as long as Super Bowl XLIX is at least more competitive than the Seahawks' victory last season over the Denver Broncos, most will be satisfied.
The Super Bowl is always one of the biggest sporting events of the year in the United States, with countless fans gathering to gorge on pizza, nachos and football.
It's nearly impossible for the game to fully live up to the hype, but occasionally, you get those games that are remembered forever, such as the Steelers' triumph in 2009.
Here's to hoping that the 49th edition of the Super Bowl rewrites the NFL history books.
