WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from January 14, 2015

Erik BeastonJan 15, 2015

For weeks, WWE Network hyped NXT's move to Wednesday nights. Commercials featuring the top stars from the brand urged fans to join them on the new night and time.

Those who did witnessed a phenomenal episode capped off by the NXT Championship rematch between Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville.

Wrestling a completely different match than their Takeover: R Evolution classic, they captivated both the live audience and those watching at home with another tremendous title bout. Zayn retained, but by night's end it would be relative newcomer Kevin Owens who would have the last laugh, standing tall over the fallen body of his former friend and partner.

Finn Balor added to his already impressive resume, knocking off Tyson Kidd in singles competition. Sasha Banks perhaps earned another shot at Charlotte's NXT Women's Championship, and Baron Corbin dismantled Bull Dempsey in short order.

Already one of the finest wrestling shows produced on a weekly basis, NXT rewarded fans for their loyalty with one of its best episodes to date.

Who emerged as winners going forward, and which Superstars or Divas are in need of a momentum boost?

Take a look for yourself.

Winner: Finn Balor

There is a certain presence and aura to Finn Balor when he enters the arena that simply can't be taught in any classroom or clinic WWE could ever hold at its state-of-the-art Performance Center.

That presence has allowed him to connect with the audience, and the theatrics he uses during his entrancesuch as timing his movements perfectly to the musicprove that he takes absolutely every aspect of his performance seriously.

Wednesday night, he was greeted with a thunderous roar as he arrived inside the NXT Arena for his battle with Kidd, then proceeded to wrestle a phenomenal bout against the last graduate of The Hart Dungeon.

Balor is one of those stars who is clearly ready for the main roster. Sure, he just arrived in NXT, but one can take a look at the current WWE roster and count the number of workers not as good or compelling as Balor is this early in his stint with Vince McMahon's promotion.

As commentator Alex Riley put it, "This is the type of competitor that, as soon as he comes through the curtain, you know you're going to see something special."

Indeed he is.

Loser: Natalya

How disappointing must it be for Natalya, one of the most talented in-ring tacticians in WWE Divas history, to not even be able to secure a win on NXT?

The Queen of Harts returned to the program Wednesday night, teaming with Charlotte to battle Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks. What should have been an unstoppable team featuring two Divas with incredible pedigrees turned out to be a bust, as Charlotte was pinned by Banks.

While Natalya may be in the thick of things on Monday and Thursday night and clearly a top contender to Nikki Bella's Divas Championship heading into Royal Rumble, the inconsistent booking has to be wearing on her.

She always says the right things, never appears to be dismayed by the fact that less talented individuals are pushed to higher spots on the card than her, but as a fan, seeing her so incredibly misused is a major disappointment.

Winners: Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville

It would have been perfectly acceptable for Zayn and Neville to roll into this week's episode of NXT, deliver a very good match and still be recognized as winners. Instead, they provided fans with a match rivaling their Takeover classic.

Zayn and Neville are two performers clearly destined for great things in WWE. They have repeatedly performed up to some incredibly lofty expectations and in the process established themselves as two of the best workers in the entire company.

Their ability to tell a story through counter-wrestling Wednesday night was fantastic. Moreover, they bring the big-match feel that adds instant prestige to the title and helps elevate it further in terms of importance.

Where the two go from here means little. All that matters is that when called upon to deliver, they did so in spades and will be rewarded for their contributions at some point down the line.

Loser: Bull Dempsey

Despite attempts by NXT Creative to convince fans that Bull Dempsey is a star of the future, nothing he has done in the ring to this point has indicated that he will be anything special.

He is a generic worker, with a generic look and generic promos. Unfortunately, generic does not work in the world of sports entertainment.

His opponent Wednesday night, like the aforementioned Finn Balor, has a tremendous aura and presence when he enters the arena. Baron Corbin has gotten over to the point that he has because of his no-nonsense approach to tearing through opponents en route to victory.

This week, Dempsey became the latest victim on Corbin's hit list, suffering the End of Days and having his shoulders pinned to the mat for the first time ever.

While it is unlikely that the story between the behemoths is over, one would be hard-pressed to find a way that Dempsey will come out of the program as anything but a loser—especially considering who he will be sharing the ring with and just how deficient he looks in comparison.
