Pogba's Agent Confirms Client Can Leave Juventus This Summer

Monday, Feb. 9

Kieran Gill of the Daily Mirror provided a statement from Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, discussing a potential transfer for his client with Telefoot:

"

He wants to make his mark on football history and he is already doing that.

Not a single player at the age of 21 has shown the world what he can do: lead a team in the palm of his hand. Pogba, he has done it already. His future? He could join any team.

If the right time comes this summer, then it will happen.

If it is not the right time, he could stay for another year or two. He will beat the transfer record. If there is one Mona Lisa in the world, and she is for sale, it will be a record price.

Jovetic Exchange Could Help City Land Pogba

Tuesday, Jan. 27

A report in The Sun (via Charles Perrin of the Express) suggests Manchester City will play on Juventus' alleged interest in Stevan Jovetic to tie up Pogba:

"And according to a sensational report in The Sun, City are ready to use Jovetic as a makeweight in order to secure a deal for Pogba," writes Perrin. "They claim that Juve want to bring Jovetic back to Serie A, but have reservations about paying £20 million."

Pogba's Agent Hints at Summer Exit from Juventus

Friday, Jan. 23

Mino Raiola, Pogba's agent, has suggested Juventus may struggled to hold onto their player at the end of the season.

"He recently signed an extension with Juventus and he wouldn't have done so if he wasn't comfortable there," Raiola told Sky Sport (h/t Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio). "Will he leave? We'll see in July."

Chelsea are said to be planning a players-plus-cash deal worth £40 million for Pogba, according to Tony Banks of the Express:

"

Chelsea will try to balance the books by allowing players to go in part exchange for Pogba, with midfielder Ramires and German forward Andre Schurrle likely to be offered, as well possibly as Nigerian John Obi Mikel.

Manchester United Reportedly Submit £61m Pogba Bid

Wednesday, Jan. 21

An article in Turin-based newspaper La Stampa (translated via 101 Great Goals) suggests Manchester United have submitted a £61 million bid for Pogba, the player they let go on a free in 2012.

"La Stampa claim the Red Devils sent Juventus an €80 million (approx. £61m) offer on Tuesday and plan to hand Pogba a €9 million (approx £7m) a year deal at Old Trafford," notes 101's translation.

Juve Admit Pogba Exit Fears

Monday, Jan. 19

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has confessed his club may be unable to prevent Pogba leaving the Serie A giants. Ben Jefferson of the Express provides Marotta's latest quotes:

"

We will do everything within out limits to hold on to Pogba, but we must not forget Italy is a country in transition.

The problem we have is that of offers coming in from other clubs offering him a salary that we are not able to match due to our financial situation.

At the moment, there's no reason to believe that Pogba will definitely leave Juventus for another team, but we have to bear in mind that we cannot compete with the wages that are being paid elsewhere. We have our limits.

"

It was claimed over the weekend that Pogba was on the cusp of a switch to Madrid, but reports of a medical ultimately proved without substance. Jamie Anderson of the Express reports:

"

Reports originating from ESPN Brazil claimed the French international was on-route to Madrid to seal a shock January move.

However the speculation was quickly debunked after Massimiliano Allegri named Pogba in hissquad to face Verona on Sunday evening in Turin.

Pogba Bid Readied by Madrid

Wednesday, Jan. 14

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to launch a stunning £78 million bid to secure Paul Pogba from Juventus.

Italian publication Tuttosport (h/t talkSPORT) claim Los Blancos are "ready to set aside €100 million" to tie Pogba up.

AS uses this report as leverage to suggest the 21-year-old midfielder is "Florentino Perez's 'bomb' for the next summer transfer window," as the Madrid president weighs up his likely annual foray into the upper echelons of the transfer market.

Comments from Mino Raiola, Pogba's agent, recently suggested it won't be long before the player's ambition outweighs that of Juve.

"He will not stay in Italy much longer," confirmed Raiola, per Mediaset (h/t talkSPORT). "It all depends on Juventus' honesty. We just signed a new agreement and we are happy, but if the time to leave comes we will not let it pass."

Pogba recently inked a new five-year contract, keeping him tied to the club until 2019; however, the reality of Juventus holding onto him for the next four seasons appears slim, especially as Pogba already ranks among the most impressive central midfielders in the world.

AS suggest Juventus' approximate debt of €206 million needs to be reduced in the coming years. Pogba's sale could significantly lower this number and improve the club's long-term financial standing.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport believes Juve would reinvest the money, though, as tweeted by football writer Adam Digby:

Chelsea and Manchester United are said to be among the clubs "chasing" Pogba, according to Charles Perrin of the Daily Express. The former Red Devils starlet recently admitted he still has an emotional attachment to the Old Trafford club, despite leaving in frustrating circumstances, per FourFourTwo (via Perrin's report): "I’m impatient. It was the feeling that I had. The coach (Sir Alex Ferguson) had faith in me, but didn’t put me on. He said that I was too young. He said: 'Your time will come.' It didn’t come. But it doesn’t mean I will speak ill of Manchester United. I love the club."

Such comments could perk up the potential interest of current United boss Louis van Gaal, who desperately needs to strengthen his midfield options. Pogba possesses the bulk, tackling ability and all-round quality to shore up a United centre which continues to be easily overrun this season.

It was unlikely Juventus would let Pogba return to his old club in the January transfer window, though, as highlighted by B/R UK's Alex Dimond:

Pogba has netted five goals and provided two assists in 21 matches this season, per WhoScored.com, averaging 2.3 tackles each game in the heart of Juventus' midfield. The Bianconeri rely on his partnership with Arturo Vidal, another player who has been linked with United in the past.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri will likely be able to count on his star midfielder for the remainder of the season, but expect speculation surrounding Pogba to ramp up throughout the summer.

It's going to take a near world-record bid for the Serie A champions to part with their prized asset, who has the potential to become Europe's most dominant midfielder if he continues to develop at the current rate.
