Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of January 12
Spurs have been brought back to earth by their disappointing 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
The slip at Selhurst Park ended Spurs' charge up the table and Arsenal's subsequent win over Stoke saw them jump ahead again.
The opportunity to move into the top four may be slipping away from Spurs now. Manager Mauricio Pochettino and head of recruitment Paul Mitchell may be motivated to move to solidify their place as Champions League contenders.
With the transfer window open for almost two weeks, Spurs are yet to make a move.
In late December, Pochettino explained that he was not prepared to rush into the market. Perhaps the time has now come for the club to make their move.
This article will be updated with breaking news and transfer rumours throughout the week.

Burnley Striker to Join in Cut-Price Deal?
1 of 3
Spurs are desperate to add a striker to their current stable. Harry Kane's contribution cannot be criticised, but neither Roberto Soldado nor Emmanuel Adebayor have done enough to justify their significant wages.
Burnley striker Danny Ings has been identified by several Premier League clubs as being worth a bid in January.
The Clarets are unlikely to be keen to sell, but the allure of a longer stay in the Premier League could cause Ings to agitate for a move.
According to the Daily Mail's Simon Jones, Spurs are leading the chase. Paul Hetherington of the Daily Star suggests Chelsea and Liverpool are among the clubs also rumoured to be interested in the signing of Ings.
With his contract running down, Spurs could pick up Ings for far less than his market value.
Ings is more of a classic striker than Kane but also enjoys dropping into deeper areas to assist with the buildup of play. The similarities between Kane and Ings mean that the pair could form an effective partnership.
A strike partner for Kane must be Spurs' priority in this window, and Ings could be the man.
Stories of Mass Clearout Not Entirely Wide of the Mark
2 of 3
The Mirror's Steve Stammers has rolled out the publication's seemingly bi-monthly "mass clearout" article and nominated Aaron Lennon, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Kyle Naughton, Younes Kaboul and Emmanuel Adebayor for the exit door.
Capoue, Paulinho and Kaboul are unlikely to leave in January, but Naughton, Adebayor and Lennon could all be sold.
The club understandably are keen to move on their least useful players, and Adebayor is the top of that list.
According to StarAfrica and ParmaLive.com (h/t Forza Italian Football), Adebayor has suitors in both La Liga and Serie A.
Malaga and Parma are both reportedly keen on taking Adebayor in January and Spurs will be desperate to make a deal.
Sky Sports reported last week that Lennon is the only player that Spurs are happy to sell this month. He has been surprisingly linked with Everton by The Mirror's Dave Kidd, with Stoke and West Brom are also rumoured to be keen.
Swansea City had been expected to move for Naughton this month but have been beaten to the punch by Leicester. According to Kidd, the Foxes have made a £3 million bid.
While Spurs will probably be keen to earn a little more from this sale, Naughton's time at the club is likely at an end.
Naughton played a useful role this season when Kyle Walker was injured, but Walker's return and the early arrival of DeAndre Yedlin have pushed Naughton down the depth chart.
Spurs Return for Sevilla Striker
3 of 3
Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca has proven an excellent signing in his first 18 months with the club.
The Colombian has scored 32 goals for the club since joining from Club Brugge in the summer of 2013.
After the World Cup, it was rumoured that Spurs had tried to sign Bacca. The Mirror's Neil Moxley is reporting that they have returned to Seville in an attempt to prise Bacca away.
Having signed a contract extension in December, Bacca won't come cheap.
The Mirror's story suggests that Roberto Soldado could be used in part-exchange to reduce the overall fee paid to Sevilla.
Bacca is a poacher, first and foremost. If Spurs were to sign him, he would arrive at the club in much the same condition that Soldado did.
Having been consistently prolific in Spain, Soldado has failed spectacularly in North London. Spurs would do well to think very hard before making the same mistake twice.
