Cowboys vs. Packers: TV Coverage, Live Stream Schedule and Final Predictions
The Dallas Cowboys head north to face the Green Bay Packers Sunday in the divisional round of the playoffs for the right to take on the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field in the NFC Championship Game on January 18.
Of course, a rematch of the infamously historical game known as the Ice Bowl—a nickname given to the 1967 NFL Championship Game due to on-field temperatures of negative-15 degrees—has taken over as the narrative for Sunday's clash. Effectively called the Ice Bowl II, the Cowboys have already been selling shirts on their website featuring the game's moniker.
Well, according to Accuweather.com, owners of those shirts may be disappointed, as the game-time temperature is expected to be 19 degrees and partly sunny with minimal winds—pretty much par for the course in Green Bay at this time of year.

Preview and Prediction
The weather may be a bit chilly for Sunday's affair, and while temperatures may not be worthy of Ice Bowl status, they are low enough to affect players with lingering injuries. It just so happens that both teams have starting quarterbacks dealing with certain ailments.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers' status was a big concern heading into the playoffs due to a calf injury suffered during the regular season. He was diagnosed with a tear in his right calf and a significant strain. According to a tweet from NFL on ESPN, the quarterback won't be 100 percent against Dallas:
Despite the injury, Rodgers is officially listed as probable and will play. However, his mobility has always been one of his biggest assets, as he routinely scrambles away from pressure and has been known to gain chunks of yardage with his legs when given the opportunity. Things could get dicey if the cold causes that calf to tighten up.
Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has been dealing with a back injury that caused him to miss one game earlier this season. A cold day could cause discomfort, negatively affecting his mobility as well. That's not a good sign considering his previous poor showings in colder weather, via NFL on ESPN:
So, which of these two quarterbacks is most likely to succeed?
Romo is fortunate enough to be surrounded by a great running back in DeMarco Murray—the NFL's rushing leader—and a talented wide receiver in Dez Bryant. The team was solid against the run during the regular season, but it was susceptible against the pass, ranking 26th in the league in that category.
Rodgers has a nice ball-carrier in Eddie Lacy residing in the backfield. Lacy was still able to accumulate 1,139 yards and nine touchdowns on 4.6 yards per carry despite Green Bay's pass-first philosophy. Outside, the wide receiver duo of Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb has been among the most lethal in the NFL. Defensively, the Packers have been good against the pass but have struggled against the run, ranking 23rd in the league.
Needless to say, both quarterbacks are surrounded by plenty of talent on teams that have few weaknesses. Making things even more intriguing is the fact that the Packers were undefeated at home and the Cowboys were undefeated on the road during the regular season. That was, in part, due to great quarterback play in those situations. Here's a look at their splits:
| Aaron Rodgers | Home | 67.1 | 2,334 | 25 | 0 | 133.2 |
| Tony Romo | Road | 70.6 | 1,933 | 20 | 2 | 121.8 |
Both of these teams are equipped for success in this situation; however, only one can emerge victorious. The upper hand here must go to Rodgers and the Packers. While Romo and Murray will surely give Green Bay's defense fits, it's difficult to see the Dallas secondary containing both Nelson and Cobb for a full 60 minutes.
This will most certainly be a back-and-forth shootout, but the nod has to go to the team more capable of delivering big plays through the air in crunch time.
Prediction: Packers 31, Cowboys 27
