Roc Nation Sports Throne Boxing 2015 Results: Winners, Scorecards and More

Brian MaziqueJan 9, 2015

On Friday night we saw a lot of things as part of the Roc Nation Sports boxing debut on Fox Sports 1. There were three fights on the broadcast, music, big announcements and more.

In the main event, 20-year-old welterweight prospect Dusty Hernandez-Harrison (25-0) defeated 35-year-old veteran Tommy Rainone (22-6-1) by unanimous decision. ESPN's Dan Rafael has the official numbers.

It wasn't an aesthetically pleasing bout, but the young prospect came out on top to stay unbeaten.

Hernandez-Harrison's range, length and power were impressive. Though no one would mistake his opponent for a 147-pound contender, the Washington D.C. native showed himself to be an interesting prospect in the sport's glamour division.

Here's a look at the other results. Just below the table is a breakdown of the night's major events.

Tureano Johnson Steam Rolls Alex Theran

Theran had beaten Johnson in the amateurs, but the former was quickly reminded that Friday night's bout took place in the professional ranks. With unrelenting pressure and a steady diet of power shots to the body and head, Johnson took control of the bout from the outset.

Boxing Ego and The Fight Ghost were impressed with Johnson.

Johnson came out with a sense of purpose. He clearly wanted to be impressive in the Roc Nation Sports boxing debut and he succeeded. The 30-year-old from the Bahamas dropped Theran twice in the fifth round. The first came on a hard overhand right that caught Theran flush on the left cheek.

The 24-year-old Colombian didn't immediately hit the canvas. Moments after the shot landed, he seemed to take a knee to avoid any further shots. Later in the round, Theran took another knock that also appeared to cause a knee injury. He slowly went to a knee again and barely beat the count.

Theran survived the round, but that would spell the end of the fight. The bell rang to begin the sixth round, but Theran couldn't continue.

On advice from the ringside physician, the fight was halted. It was a good thing. Theran was going to take unnecessary damage had the fight continued.

The White Tiger Shows His Stripes in Pro Debut

It was a successful introduction to the boxing world for Fleischer. The 24-year-old took on the winless Jordan in a mismatch typical for a highly touted prospect's first pro fight.

Fleischer's speed was a clear advantage, as was his five-inch edge in height. The fight was scheduled for four rounds, but it was clear early on we wouldn't see the final bell.

Body punches were the ultimate culprit. Fleischer launched an assault in the second round and Jordan was pinned against the ropes before the referee rescued him from more of a beating. It's too early to know for sure how the young welterweight will blossom, but Fleischer passed his first test with flying colors.

Fabolous Entertains the Crowd

Get used to boxing shows from Roc Nation doing things a little differently. On Friday night, platinum-selling rapper Fabolous did three songs in the ring, and sort of narrated the Shmoney song.

I've been a hip hop fan for decades and have seen more shows than I can count. However, that might be the first time I've seen an artist of Fabolous' stature walk around the "stage" while another guy's song played.

Whatever works.

The Roc's Biggest Announcement

Hernandez-Harrison was the biggest signee with Roc Nation Sports before Friday's big announcement.

Earlier on Friday, Jay Z's company inked one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world in Andre Ward. S.O.G took to Instagram to announce his allegiance with the Roc.

Ward was at the event to speak about his future with the promotion, and a potential fight with Gennady Golovkin. He didn't talk specifics, but he certainly seemed eager to get back into the ring. Ward has fought just three times in the last two years, but he's likely headed for a busier schedule now. He's free from a dispute with previous promoter Dan Goossen (who passed away in 2014), per Steve Kim of Boxing Scene and is seemingly ready for action.

The next time we see him, it'll be under the Roc Nation banner.

Hernandez-Harrison Wins a Snoozer

On pure action, the Johnson-Theran fight could have been the main event. That said, Hernandez-Harrison is the bigger prospect thus he got the top spot.

In his defense, Rainone is a tough fighter to look good against. He's elusive, has a solid chin and punches to score, not to punish. All things considered, Hernandez-Harrison handled the difficult assignment well.

He used his jab and superior hand speed to take over the fight in the second round, he won every round from that point on.

It'll be great to see him in the ring with more proven competition. Perhaps the best thing about Friday night was that Hernandez-Harrison got in 10 rounds of work on what turned out to be a major stage in the Roc Nation debut.
