Will The U.F.C. Set Their Sights On "Hell Boy"???
It's time Sports Fans...Saturday Aug. 8th 2009 live from the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA. U.F.C 101. B.J. "The Prodigy" Penn takes on Kenny "Kenflo" Florian for the U.F.C. Lightweight Championship.
Since losing his title shot bout to Sean "The Muscle Shark" Sherk at U.F.C. 64 Unstoppable, Kenflo has been on a tear, pounding out and submitting the competition along the way back to the top and a shot at present title holder B.J. Penn.
With B.J. Penn coming off a loss to George St.Pierre and Kenny Florian riding a six fight winning streak, one wonders if the advantage mentally goes to Florian. However Kenflo says," B.J. will be holding on to that belt with both hands, I'm not expecting him to give it to me."
B.J. Penn has never lost as a lightweight and seems to be at his best at 155lbs. Strangely the Hawaiian hasn't been talking a lot of trash for this fight, instead his advice to Florian is, " I hear you talking a lot of trash, I just hope you can back it up, it's not going to be easy" A humble B.J. Penn...now that's different.
I tell you Sports Fans, I just can't pick a decisive winner here, can you? Both fighters bring so much skill and heart in to the Octagon, I guess I'll give the edge to Florian in the cardio department.
Some of you believe the striking edge goes to B.J., but Florian is a Muay Thai expert with viscious elbow strikes from the mount, on the other hand, is there a better Ju Jitsu practitioner in the game then Penn? He's so flexible his nick name should be "The Rubberman."
I'm not sure, but I'm betting the odds in Las Vegas have Florian as the underdog going in to this fight. If they're right and B.J. Penn wins the big question is, Who's Next?
Diego "Nightmare" Sanchez comes to mind, and Clay Guida deserves a shot at the title. Both fighters are capable of posing huge problems for Penn with their unrelenting aggression and style, but the best challenge may come from outside of the "Octagon" and the U.F.C.
Known to many MMA enthusiasts as "Hell Boy." Joachim Hansen the current Shooto Welterweight Champion (156 lbs-179lbs) is considered by many as the best Lightweight fighter in the world fighting outside the U.F.C.
The Oslo Norway native sports an impressive 18-7-0 record as a professional, fighting in Pride, Dream, Shooto in Japan and Finland as well as K-1. With bone breaking sub-missions and plenty of power in his hands, "Hell Boy" is capable of hanging with the likes of Penn, Florian or anyone else in the U.F.C.'s Lightweight division.
October 6th 2009 at Dream 11 "Hell Boy" Hansen takes on Shinya Aoki for the Lightweight Championship finale. They've met before with "Hell Boy" stopping Aoki at 4:19 of the first round due to strikes at Dream 5. Many believe their upcoming bout will end the same.
If Penn wins tomorrow look for the U.F.C. to start pursuing the Scandinavian BJJ Academy fighter to shake up the Lightweight division. The U.F.C. has plenty of talent in the 155 lb division but they may not have a fighter talented enough to stop B.J. Penn.
Maybe the U.F.C. needs to raise a little hell in the Lightweight division, and Joachim "Hell Boy" Hansen will definately light the fire. If you're reading this Dana White this message is for you, " Go straight to hell..., and bring in "Hell Boy" Hansen." God will forgive you and so will the fans. Until next time Sports Fans.
