Chelsea Transfer News: Top Rumours Surrounding Blues on Christmas Day 2014
Atletico Madrid could be set to end Fernando Torres’ Chelsea nightmare by bringing him back to his boyhood club.
That’s after Rojiblancos president Enrique Cerezo dropped a major hint about the Spaniard’s future.
“He is not here but that does not mean that he won't be," said the president, per BBC Sport.

The 30-year-old forward is currently on loan from the Blues at Milan, but after failing to make any kind of impact in Serie A so far, Torres would surely jump at the chance to rejoin Atletico.
Here are some of the striker’s finest moments from his time with the current Spanish champions:
The man know as “El Nino” remains something of a deistic figure at the Vicente Calderon, despite his recent fall from grace, so the fans would naturally be keen to have him back.
However, whether he has the dynamism and the intensity to fit into Atletico manager Diego Simeone’s system is something that is pretty debatable at this stage.

Chelsea would more than likely be delighted to simply get Torres off their wage roll, regardless of where he does eventually end up. That would make a lot of money available to spend on player wages.
However, one man even the Blues cannot afford is Lionel Messi, according to manager Jose Mourinho.
The former Real Madrid boss told BT Sport during Clare Balding Meets that the sums involved in that potential transfer would make any potential deal for the player impossible because of Financial Fair Play regulations, per Richard Arrowsmith of the Daily Mail:
"No, I have no chance of that.
Because at this moment there is financial fair play and with the financial fair play we have to follow certain rules, certain numbers and we obviously have no conditions to buy, as you say a 'super amazing player' paid with 'super amazing numbers' that Chelsea at this moment we cannot do.
"
Here’s a look at that segment of the interview, per BT Sport Football:
Earlier in the week, Chelsea midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas admitted that he would love for Messi to join him at Stamford Bridge, per Arrowsmith's piece. However, Mourinho’s dismissing of any potential rumours seems to have nipped that already unlikely prospect in the bud.

In other news, Arsenal have reportedly joined the Blues by lodging their interest in Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos.
Manolete of AS (h/t Tom Conn of InsideSpanishFootball.com) has told La Goleada that Arsene Wenger has been in personal contact with Ramos’ agent and brother, Rene, about a potential deal after a reported breakdown in contract negotiations.

Mourinho’s men have been linked with the star defender in the past, per Bruce Archer of the Daily Star. If Arsenal were to get the surprise go-ahead on any deal, you suspect Chelsea would also jump at the chance to acquire a player of his undeniable immense quality.
Here's a look at what Ramos could potentially bring to the Premier League landscape:
Ramos has developed into a vital figure for Real, and he’s someone you suspect that manager Carlo Ancelotti would be loath to lose.
With that in mind, not to mention Ramos’ obvious affinity with the Madridistas, any transfer away from the Santiago Bernabeu looks very unlikely indeed for the Spanish World Cup winner.
