Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Hickey was hired by the Dolphins in January to help turn the franchise around. While the team currently sits at 8-7 after a comeback win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16, Miami will miss the playoffs after being eliminated from postseason contention.
The news comes after it was revealed the team would also retain head coach Joe Philbin. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross commented on the team's direction, via Dave George of the Palm Beach Post.
"We are building something great," Ross said. "...They say patience is a virtue, you know. We’re expecting big things next year, I’ll tell you that."
Jeff Darlington of NFL.com offered his take on the move by the Dolphins:
During his time, Hickey played a significant role in drafting the likes of Ja'Wuan James and Jarvis Landry as well as signing Brent Grimes to an extended contract. Both James and Landry have had a noticeable impact, while Grimes has shored up the secondary.
Philbin and Ryan Tannehill might not have led the Dolphins to the playoffs this season, but Hickey has made moves to benefit the team. Given another season, it will be interesting to see how the team progresses under him in the future.
