Lindsey Vonn Comments on Crashing out During World Cup Race
An error in the super-G discipline denied Lindsey Vonn the chance to equal the record for World Cup race wins, but the American was still in pretty high spirits when reflecting on her performances at Val d'Isere.
Vonn—who would have equalled Annemarie Moser-Proell's haul of 62 race wins had she triumphed in the super-G—hit a gate mid-course, handing victory to Elisabeth Goergl of Austria.

But the 61-time World Cup race winner was in pensive mood when reflecting on what has been a decent finish to a frustrating year, per the International Skiing Federation (h/t CNN.com):
"I was a little tired.
Yesterday was a great day, but a very long day and it takes a lot of energy. I skied pretty well on the top section and I was at my limit and I missed a little bit of elevation and I wasn't able to make the gate.
The positive thing is that my knees are good and I'm still going home for Christmas with a big smile.
"
Indeed, Vonn was denied the chance to compete at the Sochi Winter Olympics earlier in the year because of knee surgery in January and has spent the overwhelming majority of 2014 in recovery.
But after some fears that the 30-year-old may not return to action until 2015, the recovery was swifter than expected, and she won her 60th World Cup race—her first victory in the competition in just shy of two years—at Lake Louise earlier this month. She won her 61st in the downhill at Val d'Isere.

With the injury problems suffered in mind, you suspect Vonn will have been delighted to have seemingly emerged unscathed from this tumble. She seems to have put things in perspective judging by her post-race comments.
After an arduous couple of years, she looks to have recaptured her sparkling best form and will surely pick up the requisite wins to go clear in the all-time list for World Cup race wins when she's next in action in 2015.
