Teams of the Future: Baltimore Orioles

Jon BentonAug 4, 2009

This is my first of 30 articles about how MLB teams will look in a few years. So, without further ado, I start with my first team, the Baltimore Orioles.

Lineup:

Brian Roberts, 2B
Adam Jones, CF
Nick Markakis, RF
Aubrey Huff, 1B
Nolan Reimold, LF
Brandon Snyder, 3B
Luke Scott, DH
Matt Wieters, C
Ryan Adams, SS

TOP NEWS

Washington Nationals v Los Angeles Angels
New York Yankees v. Chicago Cubs

At the top of the lineup will be Roberts, who I think will stay, for a few more years. He will still be good and fresh. Second, will be Adam Jones, fresh off an all-star appearence, in which he drove in the game winning RBI.

Followed by them will be Markakis and Huff. They will still be solid contributors. Then will be Nolan Reimold, who is a big stud, and might make a big splash in the show.

Then there will be Brandon Snyder, who is also a legitimate power threat, as is Luke Scott. Then the big prospect comes. Matt Wieters is said to be the next Joe Mauer, and I say it is true. Then there will be speedy shortstop Ryan Adams.

Then comes the rotation.

Chris Tillman

Bryan Matusz

Jake Arrieta

David Hernandez

Brad Bergeson

Jim Johnson (closer)

It is close for the top 3, but honestly Tillman will be the Orioles staff ace. Matusz, who made his major league debut, was stellar against the first-place Tigers. Then there will be Arrieta, who is on track for the bigs also. The next 4 are also hard. Guthrie just doesn't fit into plans, and Uehara will be used in long relief. Bergeson and Hernandez will fight for the two spots at the back of the rotation. And don't forget about Jim Johnson.

The future is very bright for the Baltimore Orioles, who will be contenders in no time.
