Tottenham Striker Harry Kane Continues to Enhance England Credentials
Tottenham striker Harry Kane continued to enhance his international credentials with his 14th goal of the season in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Burnley.
The 21-year-old fired Spurs to their third win in a week, having netted in another 2-1 triumph in the Premier League against Swansea last Sunday and a 4-0 thumping of Newcastle in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday night.
Such impressive form is sure to have propelled the young striker into the reckoning for Roy Hodgson’s next England squad, with manager Mauricio Pochettino endorsing him for an international call-up after his latest heroics, telling the BBC:

"I wish for my player the best but Harry has big potential and he's a big talent, why not?
If he continues to play in the same way, maybe the opportunity will come for him to play for the national team.
It's becoming normal now that Harry Kane has scored. We are very happy with him. He worked very hard and scored a goal, which is very important for the striker.
"
Speaking to talkSPORT, Tottenham legend Clive Allen highlighted Kane's remarkable transformation, as he's gone from a Leicester City substitute to Spurs' star striker in just over 18 months: "People are starting to talk about him making the England side. That would be a meteoric rise and it would be nothing more than he deserved because he has worked hard to get to where he is."
Unspectacular loan spells at Leyton Orient, Millwall and Norwich City preceded Kane's time with the Foxes, and as Magpies manager Alan Pardew pointed out, the youngster seems to have an impressive work ethic to go with his natural talent.
“I think he is fabulous. I watched him on Sunday and when you have got an English striker who can do 13 km at pace and have the quality and technical ability in the box, Roy Hodgson should count himself very lucky,” he said, as reported by the Press Association, via The Guardian.

Indeed, the England boss looks set to be spoiled for attacking options for his next squad, with several other candidates propelling themselves into the reckoning.
Charlie Austin is single-handedly driving QPR away from relegation, taking his tally to 11 Premier League goals this season with a hat-trick in Saturday's 3-2 win over fellow strugglers West Brom.
Saido Berahino earned a call-up for England’s last round of fixtures but is currently on a nine-match goalless run, with boss Alan Irvine using him as a substitute for a third successive game at the weekend.
All three of the aforementioned players have scored more than any of the frontmen used in England’s last game, Wayne Rooney (six goals in all competitions), Danny Welbeck (six) and Raheem Sterling (five).
Andy Carroll has also propelled himself back into contention with three goals in his last three games, while Peter Crouch has scored in successive matches.
England resume their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign in March, and with Daniel Sturridge expected to return to action in the new year, Hodgson looks set for one of those good headaches when he selects his next squad.
