Fedor/Strikeforce, One Possible Good Side.

DivAug 4, 2009

OK, I'm new at this but it's a topic I feel strongly about.

We all know what has happened in the MMA world with Fedor signing with Strikeforce. We all know that UFC made him an offer that he turned down. Now most posters have been arguing about what a bad idea it was to turn it down. How he is avoiding the top heavyweights. So hear me out on this and see what you think.

First point is that we don't know anything about the contracts offered to Fedor. Fedor would choose the best deal for himself, right? Whether that means M-1 and Fedor, or just Fedor is beside the point. He's not dumb, he made the best deal in HIS eyes that he could. So, enough with the dodging the best unless you were in the negotiations of both contracts.

Second point. Fedor is only one year and four months older than Brock. So if Fedor is waisting time in Strikeforce and will be too old and slow if they do eventually meet, well, that argument flies out the window. Ask the ones who say that, if Brock will be too old and slow in two to three years, and they will say that is when he should peak. Enough experience and skills learned, to make him completely unstoppable. So if Fedor fights in Strikeforce and Brock in UFC, they should both clean out their respective divisions in their promotions.

So lets say that Fedor completes his three fight deal in two years. What then? Could Brock have completed his contract with the UFC by then? Could that be the best time for them to meet? Could Brock have the experience and skills to beat Fedor. Could Fedor get his skills sharped by several fights? Get rid of the ring rust? Could that be the best fight ever, rather than a fight now. If they fought now, one side would say "It's only Brock's sixth fight, what do you expect" the other side would say, "He hasn't fought in a while, he's rusty". (Insert your own argument here to promote your view) You get the idea.

A fight in two to three years could be the best thing to come out of all this mess. Do I make any sense?
