Sergio Ramos Contract: Latest News and Rumours on Real Madrid Negotiations
Real Madrid are close to securing the talents of defender Sergio Ramos on a new contract amid reports the Spanish international is seeking a significant pay rise.
Per ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan, former Real sporting director Arrigo Sacchi claimed in a Gazzetta dello Sport article that president Florentino Perez was unwilling to meet Ramos' demands.
However, following Los Merengues' 4-0 triumph over Cruz Azul on Tuesday, Ramos is quoted by Corrigan's report telling Spanish radio programme El Larguero:

"I have a lot of affection and respect for [Sacchi] -- he was an important person when I signed for Madrid. I was with him a long time [but] I explained in my tweet: I do not do things for money. I never have. In this sense it depends on my happiness, and that of the president. I do not believe there will be any type of problem to reach an agreement.
Sincerely, this is the least of my worries. My agent is there for that, to communicate with the club. I have a few years left on my contract, and my intention is to stay at the team that has given me almost everything.
"
The tweet in reference was made through Ramos' official Twitter account (in Spanish), where he protested that money is far from his main motivation:
Real's win over Cruz Azul—where Ramos bagged the opener—puts them in the final of this year's FIFA Club World Cup, the only competition that Ramos is yet to win in his club and national-team career.
The semi-final victory was also Los Blancos' 21st successive win across all competitions, a club record the 28-year-old is keen to extend further, according to the club's official Twitter account:
Ramos' current deal doesn't expire until 2017, but Corrigan alleges that the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea have been tied to his services.
The centre-back was a rock for his team en route to last season's Champions League triumph, with any new deal promising to keep Ramos at the Bernabeu until well into his 30s.

Since arriving in the Spanish capital in 2005, the former Sevilla right-back has evolved and adapted to the requirements of certain managers, winning three La Liga titles and two Copa del Rey crowns in the process.
Earlier this week, Real Madrid TV presenter Phil Kitromilides quoted manager Carlo Ancelotti stating the club is equally adamant to extend Ramos' deal:
It would seem only a matter of time until the Bernabeu staple sees his stay prolonged, with both player and club eager to continue a partnership that's worked so well for close to a decade.
