Every year, World Wrestling Entertainment honors the men and women fighting for the freedom of Americans everywhere with a very special event titled Tribute to the Troops. This year's show emanates from Columbus, Georgia, and for the first time ever, it coincides with a SmackDown television taping.

As a result, troops and family members will get a double dose of action.

For everyone else, the annual salute to the United States armed forces will be broadcast on the USA Network on December 17 as part of a special WWE Week.

Analysis

Tribute to the Troops is hardly a show to tune into and expect to see extraordinary wrestling. It is a show dedicated to entertaining fans and their families during the holiday season, and it succeeds in spades.

With that said, the card for this year's broadcast looks much better than normal. It features a Boot Camp match between Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt sure to deliver a wild and chaotic hardcore style, and the eight-man tag match is certain to continue to storyline between the remnants of The Authority and the top babyfaces in the company.

The Santa's Little Helper match is a staple of WWE holiday broadcasts and gives as many Divas possible the opportunity to perform in front of the audience.

Of course, the quality of the matches is dependent upon how much time each gets.

In the past, videotaped hellos from troops to their families are sprinkled throughout the show, and there are also highlight packages of the Superstars and Divas spending time on base. Last year, a match featuring The Shield was left off the broadcast due to time constraints.

Will that be the case again this year?

We will find out when WWE presents its annual holiday special December 17 on the USA Network.
