Stuart Scott Receives Tribute from ESPN's 'Monday Night' Crew

Matt FitzgeraldDec 9, 2014

Longtime ESPN personality Stuart Scott received a touching tribute prior to Week 14's edition of Monday Night Football between the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons.

The network's Countdown quartet of Suzy Kolber, Steve Young, Ray Lewis and Trent Dilfer joined hands with each other, along with other members of the working crew, to send Scott positive energy as he continues his battle with cancer.

SportsCenter tweeted video footage as the crew honored Scott during Monday's telecast:

Cindy Boren of The Washington Post reported what an emotional Kolber said to Scott:

"

I have the privilege of sitting in [Scott's] seat each week as he fights the fight with cancer. It's been seven years and Stuart is the recipient of the Jimmy V Award for perseverance and he said in his amazing speech . . . that sometimes when you don't have the strength you need your friends to step up a little bit and help you. So, Stuart, we want you to know we’re sending you some extra strength and to keep fighting that fight.

"

Although his cancer went into remission in 2012, Scott announced on Twitter in January 2013 that it had returned (h/t Yahoo Sports).

Scott, 49, has been a big part of ESPN for more than two decades. He has also been a source of inspiration for what he's done away from the media spotlight.

Despite enduring chemotherapy and battling cancer for years, Scott has continued to work quite often, adamant about carrying on as normally as possible with a life-threatening health condition.
