Arsenal Transfer News: Paulo Dybala Encourages 'Amazing' Gunners Move

Palermo striker Paulo Dybala has revealed it would be "amazing" to play for Arsenal in the Premier League.

Serie A specialist David Amoyal tweeted an intriguing quote for Gunners fans:

Arsene Wenger continues to be linked with a move for the £31 million-rated Dybala, per David Wright of the Express. Although Wright believes Manchester United have also been "keeping tabs" on the player, it is Arsenal who are expected to offer the asking price.

Dybala has scored six and assisted two in 13 appearances for Palermo this season, netting in each of his last four appearances, per WhoScored.com. The Rosanero would be 10 points worse off without his contribution—placing them in the relegation zone on seven points—highlighting Dybala's growing importance to the club's prospects.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini recently voiced his expectations for the 21-year-old. "Within two years, he's going to be better than Cristiano Ronaldo, (Lionel) Messi and (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic," reported Wright. "It would take €40 million (£31 million) to take him away from us. He's the best striker in Serie A."

While Dybala's comment could be read as something of a "come and get me" plea to the Gunners, Wenger recently confirmed he is yet to pin down his January transfer targets. He did, however, insist young players are the most likely to be brought in, as reported by Arsenal's official Twitter feed:

Dybala enjoys playing an action-packed game. He is the fourth most prolific dribbler in Serie A—behind team-mate Franco Vazquez, Gervinho and Mateo Kovacic—per WhoScored. He can also be drilled to work hard defensively and has shown instincts of being able to close down from the front; an important tactic for Wenger's team.

The Arsenal boss is largely relying on Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck to get the goals this season. Sanchez is a regular match-winner, while Giroud is regaining fitness after injury and Welbeck continues to show unpredictable form. The team would be much improved with a clinical finisher floating around the box, a role Dybala can fulfill.

Wenger remains under pressure to deliver, despite a run of three wins, as football writer James McNicholas told B/R UK's Ryan Bailey:

The longer Dybala remains at Palermo, the more clubs he is likely to attract. Wenger needs to get this one sorted quickly—preferably in January—if he wishes to avoid an all-out bidding war. He cannot risk the striker posting truly memorable numbers and then being snagged from Arsenal's grasp.
