BTS the Summit 2 2014: Live Stream, Prize Money and DotA 2 Event Schedule
The initial Beyond the Summit, Defense of the Ancients 2 (Dota 2) event took place in June, and it was a rousing success. The Evil Geniuses crew came away with the title, and thus have been selected as the invited team to compete against five other squads in Beyond the Summit 2.
From December 3-7 from a "lowkey private home in the Greater Los Angeles area," per the event's official website, the second BTS battle will be waged. The structure of the event is somewhat similar to the HomeStory tournaments for StarCraft 2. However, when players aren't embroiled in a match, they will be an active part of the broadcast.
Per the official site, the format is designed to allow each player an opportunity to connect with the Dota 2 community with their personality as well as their gaming skills.
Beyond the Summit 2 will be broadcast in over six different languages. You can watch it on BTS' Twitch channel and other participating streams. Click here to see the viewing options.
This is the schedule for the tournament, per the BTS Twitter account:
Format
Group Stage
This stage begins with round-robin competition. The top two teams advance to the semifinals. The other four teams are seeded accordingly in the quarterfinals.
Playoffs
The playoffs are structured in a best-of-five single-elimination bracket. This format remains consistent through the grand finals.
Prize Distribution
The base prize for the tournament is $100,000, but thanks to crowd-sourcing, it has grown two times over since the amount was originally set. Per Matthew Bailey of OnGamers, tournament organizers have leaned on the efforts of the Dota 2 community to sweeten the deal for competitors.
For every in-game purchase, an additional 25 percent of the purchase will be added to the base prize pool. Per Bailey's prize-pool tracker, the prize pool had grown to $298,974 as of Dec. 2. In addition to the money, there's also a bevy of other game-related prizes available to the competitors.

The Champions and the Top Challengers
After winning DreamHack: Winter, The Evil Geniuses validated their win at the initial BTS event. Per ERankings, the crew is the top-ranked group in the Dota 2 universe. Still there are a few groups with a chance to pull the upset.
Of all the challengers to the defending champions, Not Today and Team Tinker may pose the biggest threat.
Team Tinker was a late replacement for First Departure, and their opponents must be wary of taking them lightly.
Per the BTS site, the squad that finished third in the DreamHack: Winter tournament in Stockholm, Sweden, in late November will be flying straight to Los Angeles for the event. After a respectable showing in Sweden, Team Tinker will most certainly be a respected presence in L.A.
Not Today is listed as the 39th-ranked team in the Join Dota database, but don't underestimate their figureheads. The experienced group is led by Freddy "SmAsH" Sina. He is known as a one of the world's best mid players. SmAsh will ensure that Not Today is a force.
