Brendan Rodgers Did Not Even Mention Steven Gerrard When Picking All-Time EPL XI
On Monday, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers raised some eyebrows when he described Steven Gerrard as "arguably the best player in the history of the Premier League."
Well, that was not his opinion in 2012.
In April of that year, the then-Swansea City manager picked his all-time Premier League XI during an appearance on Match of the Day 3 and outlined why he picked the players he did.

However, despite mentioning some difficult decisions, such as selecting Peter Schmeichel in goal ahead of David Seaman and choosing Gianfranco Zola over Dennis Bergkamp, he seemed to have no hesitation in picking his central midfielders.
Manchester United legends Roy Keane and Paul Scholes were picked in that position, but Gerrard was not even mentioned.
"I've got players of dominance and, more importantly, character," Rodgers said while explaining his team.
Of course, Rodgers is entitled to change his opinion, especially after working closely with Gerrard for more than two years, but it is still quite a jump from not in the team to arguably the best ever.
