Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Wearing their Browns jerseys, hats, T-shirts, and even Browns colored Pumas, the fans were dressed like it was gameday in September.
After driving around for a while, finally a parking spot was located, but that spot was approximately a mile from the training facility.
Droves of people were walking down Beech Street towards the complex and the closer you got, the louder the music.
The players were all warming up to various types of music blasting from the field.
Rap, R&B, and rock were screaming out of the speakers.
The word of the day was organized.
Many times throughout the two hour practice you could hear members of the crowd saying how this first practice was so much more organized than any other practice from the last several years.
And it was extremely organized.
Each practice session last anywhere from five to eight minutes with an air horn going off to signify that the next routine was up.
Granted, the Browns weren't full contact when practicing against each other, fans could still hear the popping of pads when the offensive lineman went up against the defensive lineman.
Several players did have to run laps for making mistakes including: running back Jerome Harrison, center Hank Fraley, and linebacker Kamerion Wimbley to name a few.
During the practice, everyone could tell how much discipline coach Eric Mangini has already brought to this team.
The players were very focused and concentration was at the highest level.
There were many different groups practicing with their coaches like the kickoff units, the defensive lineman were hitting the bags, the wide receivers were battling against the defensive backs, and the offensive line was working with the quarterbacks and running backs.
At one point, the first team defense went up against the first team offense and on one particular play, running back Jamal Lewis broke through the line and took it to the endzone and the crowd went wild.
As far as the quarterback battle, Brady Quinn had many reps and looked good, but he did not go down the field past 25 yards on any throw.
Anderson took a couple risks down field, but unfortunately, one of those risky throws was picked off by safety Mike Adams. Otherwise he looked good too.
The Adams pick was an easy one, seeing as how the ball was thrown right to him.
Members of the crowd started chanted "Brady, Brady," after the pick.
Phil Dawson also showed up for the first practice. He was planning on holding out for more money, but obviously showed a change of heart.
Dawson was easily knocking 40 yard field goals through the uprights.
Josh Cribbs worked exclusively with the wide receivers and was the gunner on kickoff coverage drills.
A very solid and organized first practice.
(Next practice to be reported on will be on Monday.)
