
Vincent Kompany Injury: Updates on Manchester City Star's Status and Return
Manchester City club captain Vincent Kompany is starting in Sunday's much-anticipated match against Manchester United after heading into the game with some doubt.
On Friday, City boss Manuel Pellegrini confirmed Kompany was struggling to be fit during his pre-match presser, but failed to confirm exactly what the Belgian international is suffering with. Pellegrini's comments were tweeted by the club's official feed:

The centre-back is going through an up-and-down season in 2014-15, leading the Citizens' back four from the very heart, but injuries and poor form continue to bug him. An issue with his hamstring saw him come off of the pitch against Southampton in November, leading to several fans once again labeling him injury-prone.

Het Laatste Nieuws' Kristof Terreur didn't agree with those statements, however:
As reported by Physioroom.com, the 29-year-old has missed a lot of time with niggling injuries since making the move to the Premier League, and he was sidelined with seven different injuries during the calendar year 2014 alone.

When healthy, he is often one of City's most important players—leading a defence with plenty of depth at the centre-back position—but no single player brings his diverse set of skills to the table. Consistency has been an issue this year, however, helping Chelsea to build a big lead in the league.
Kompany has suffered a rotten run of form in recent times, making simple mistakes and regularly getting caught out of position. He has, though, often been a thorn in United's side down the years.
