Miami Football: Best Moments from Hurricanes' 2014 Season
The Miami Hurricanes crawled to the finish of the 2014 regular season, but Duke Johnson and Co. still provided a handful of memorable moments throughout the year.
While highlights don't amend for a disappointing 6-6 record, the Hurricanes' on-field performance certainly had a few bright spots.
Before a tense offseason begins in Coral Gables, take a few minutes to relive the best plays of Miami's season.

Phillip Dorsett Breaks the 200-Yard Mark
2 of 6Phillip Dorsett struggled through a forgettable junior year, missing five games and simply being a decoy in two others.
As a senior, however, he flew by defenses with what CBS Sports' Dane Brugler told B/R he calls "see-ya speed," which was evident in eight touchdowns of 27 yards or more this year.
Opposite Arkansas State, Dorsett recorded a pair of 63-yard scores, and his second touchdown put him over 200 yards for the game. The speedster became only the third receiver in school history to eclipse the barrier.
Dorsett led the Football Bowl Subdivision with 26.7 yards per catch, and he is expected to be selected in the 2015 NFL draft.
Denzel Perryman's Push-Ups, Flag, Interception
3 of 6Last season, Denzel Perryman earned a national reputation as a hard hitter after laying some slobber-knockers. He occasionally lived up to that title in 2014, but a sequence of plays against Duke presented the highlight-reel inclusion.
Perryman dropped an easy interception, so he dropped to the ground and did push-ups—just like Sean Taylor and Mo Sikes used to do. However, the senior linebacker was surprisingly flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Later on the drive, Perryman atoned for his mistake and picked off Anthony Boone, though that ball was nearly mishandled, too.
Perryman tallied 102 tackles this year, and he's likely to be chosen on Day 2 of the upcoming draft.
Brad Kaaya Finds Clive Walford
4 of 6
Though Brad Kaaya connected with Clive Walford for seven touchdowns and a team-high 44 receptions, none was prettier than a 14-yard touchdown against Cincinnati.
Kaaya displayed excellent touch and placement, while Walford separated himself from the Bearcats defender, snatched the pass and kept one foot in bounds.
The touchdown kick-started Walford's torrid conclusion to his senior—and potentially Mackey Award-winning—season. He hauled in 25 passes for 410 yards and four scores during the final six outings of 2014.
Walford certainly improved his proverbial draft stock immensely over the past three months and will continue the tradition of "Tight End U."
Tyriq McCord's Pick-Six
5 of 6The 'Canes earned a 24-10 halftime advantage over Gunner Kiel and Cincinnati, who were looking to close the gap on the opening possession of the second half.
Tyriq McCord had other ideas, though, and sparked a 31-point latter session for Miami. The junior dropped into coverage, followed the strange bounce and tight-roped the sideline into the end zone.
McCord accounted for 43 tackles (5.5 TFL, 2.0 sacks), three pass breakups, two quarterback hits, one forced fumble, one recovery and one interception this season.
Barring an unexpected development, McCord will return for his senior campaign at "The U."
Duke Johnson Sets the Miami Rushing Record
6 of 6
Highlighted by hurdles, stiff arms, nasty cuts and breakaway speed, Duke Johnson solidified himself as the greatest Miami player in the last decade.
During the regular-season finale against Pittsburgh, however, the junior officially carved his name into the Hurricanes' record books. Johnson topped Ottis Anderson for the most rushing yards in school history, tallying 3,387 yards as of this writing.
This year alone, Johnson passed names like Alonzo Highsmith, Lamar Miller, Frank Gore, Willis McGahee, Clinton Portis, James Jackson and Edgerrin James, among six others.
After racking up 1,890 yards from scrimmage and 13 total touchdowns as a junior, Johnson will soon decide whether to return for his senior campaign or declare for the draft.
