Brendon McCullum made 202 and Kane Williamson 192 in a 297-run second-wicket partnership as the Pakistan attack toiled at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The tourists resumed on 249-1 with Williamson on 76, and the 24-year-old reached his eighth Test century in the seventh over of the day with a four off Mohammad Talha.
McCullum’s fourth Test double century came up before lunch, but he was bowled by Yasir Shah, after missing an attempted sweep, to end a swashbuckling innings that featured 21 boundaries and 11 sixes.

New Zealand were 388-2 at lunch, and Ross Taylor made a patient 50 before slicing Shah to Younis Khan at slip. It was the only wicket to fall in an afternoon session that yielded 100 runs.
Williamson had brought up his highest Test score and was just eight runs short of a double century before he fell to the first ball after tea. He was caught at slip after poking at a delivery from left-arm seamer Rahat Ali.
Corey Anderson and Tim Southee hit brisk half-centuries off 56 and 61 balls respectively with both men clearing the ropes to help set a Test record as the Kiwis scored at almost five runs per over.
