Overview
It's not often that Bangladesh find themselves in a position so commanding as they are in the one-day series against Zimbabwe. With the series already sealed at 3-0, the hosts now go in search of the possible whitewash.
Zimbabwe have been nothing short of woeful on this tour. Just one batsman, Elton Chigumbura, has managed more than 100 runs across the three games. Only one bowler, Tinashe Panyangara, has managed to keep his average below 25.00.
In contrast, Bangladesh have four players who have scored more than 100 runs across the three games. Their bowlers, too, have been immense. Two have kept their bowling average at 13.00, and Arafat Sunny has taken 10 wickets at an average of just 7.80 with an astonishing economy rate of 2.80.
The performance is in stark contrast to earlier in the year, when Bangladesh lost their 12 completed ODIs. As the World Cup looms, they are also trying out different options. Sunny will be rested to give Taijul Islam a chance, and Abdul Hassan will come in for Shafiul Islam.
Whether or not these changes will offer Zimbabwe reprieve or only torment them further, only time will tell. They will need everyone in the team to come together in order to turn things around.
As a mark of respect for Phil Hughes, who passed away on Thursday, both teams will wear black armbands and observe a moment of silence before the match.
Key players
Bangladesh
Shakib Al Hasan's century in the first ODI proved, once again, just how valuable he is to the Bangladesh team. His ability to adapt to the match situation and the fact that he often chips in with the ball makes him one of the side's greatest assets.
Zimbabwe
Throughout the series, Brendan Taylor has looked positive at the start of his innings. He's managed a 50 in one game, but he will need to do more if he wants to pull his team out of this rut.
