Amaro Suffers Concussion
Brian Costello of the New York Post passed along the news on Amaro's possible concussion:
Coming into the game, Amaro had 34 receptions for 291 yards and two touchdowns on the season. The rookie was drafted by New York in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft and has played in every game this year.
Though he's made some mistakes as a rookie, Amaro has been an effective player for the struggling offense. Amaro spoke with Darryl Slater of NJ.com about his first NFL season earlier this month:
"I feel like I’m doing a really good job of making the plays count. I know I’ve made a couple mistakes (with drops). I feel like those are the easy balls, too, and it’s just been frustrating for me, because those are the everyday, pitch-and-catch kind of deals. It’s just like from a basketball reference, sometimes people think it’s a little bit harder to make a wide-open shot than it is when a guy is contesting you. For me, I feel like I’ve made all the contested catches.
"
If Amaro is forced to miss any time, it will be up to starter Jeff Cumberland to step up. In his fifth season, Cumberland has been less effective than Amaro in the passing game with 154 yards and one score.
Regardless of who's under center for the Jets, the offense will be missing a crucial component. Not having Amaro in the passing game and as a blocker would make the Miami Dolphins matchup that much more difficult next Monday.
