Wayne Rooney Becomes Youngest Player to Reach 100 Caps for England
England forward Wayne Rooney recorded his 100th international cap in Sunday's 3-1 win over Slovenia in European Championship qualifying, becoming the youngest player in English history to reach the century mark, per ESPN's Paul Carr.
Only the ninth Englishman to make 100 appearances for the national side, Rooney hit the milestone just three weeks after his 29th birthday.
The other English players with 100 or more caps are Peter Shilton (125), David Beckham (115), Steven Gerrard (114), Bobby Moore (108), Ashley Cole (107), Bobby Charlton (106), Frank Lampard (106) and Billy Wright (106), per englandfootballonline.com.

All eight are retired from the international game, as Cole, Lampard and Gerrard decided to hang their England cleats up within the last 10 months.
Still going strong, Rooney figures to eventually best Shilton's all-time England caps record of 125, which has stood since the ageless goalkeeper's final international match back in 1990.
Rooney celebrated his 100th appearance by scoring a penalty in the 59th minute, tying the game at 1-1 just minutes after team-mate Jordan Henderson netted an own goal. Danny Welbeck would later add a pair of goals in the 65th and 72nd minutes, ensuring that Rooney's milestone match will be a positive memory.
The 29-year-old forward now has 44 international goals, matching Jimmy Greaves for third-most in England history, per ESPN FC.
